i think youre engagement will be incredible. even though you know its coming!

i genuinely think that when youre surrounded by your family their happiness and love is just going to make the whole experience better. its ok to show affection to your fi, just no tongues or groping!

@lusik303:  oooh i just thought of another awesome pro to this way of getting engaged

you can get photos and/or video to save the moment. plus you can do hair and makeup so you look just the way you want to look

i sit next to my fi, and i kiss him on the cheek but thats it. anything more would be odd!

well i can see it from both sides

his perspective – its a happy moment and he wants to kiss the woman he loves

your perspective – its a cultural faux pas. and honestly i agree with you – if they are very conservative and going to be shocked/horrified its going to put a shadow over the night

i guess hes not getting it because hes from a different background. but i really dont think the “we can do it whichever way we want” mindset is going to go down well

im sorry you had a fight about it! im sure hell agree to just kissing you on the cheek eventually

I totally knew about my proposal and when it was going to happen. I even went to work that day and was thinking about it all day. I didn’t necessarily know what it would look like (like what he was setting up) but I had a pretty good idea. While I like surprises and it would’ve been nice, I also have the personality that I like to prepare for things and have time to get my wits about me, so to speak. The only part about the proposal that I think was a little disappointing was just that he wasn’t too creative about it. Like I wish I knew when, but didn’t know how, but I kind of mostly knew how before too which was the only tad disappointing part. But in the end, he asked me to marry him and now we’re married and happy which is what matters.

@newname_99:  By the way that’s one of the reasons that I wanted to know when it was coming. I actually told him way before he proposes that a girl needs to have the proposal outfit picked! Fashion cannot be ignored at such a time! LOL

That sounds so fun!  I knew about mine and it didn’t make it any less special or wonderful.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree, I knew about mine too and it was still terrific. I think it’s cool your family will be there: yes, maybe a bit awkward, but they all love you and want to support you in your marriage and that’s great!!
