I have a hatred for all politically based facebook posts right now, regardless of who it is for.  FB is not a good forum for political debate.  Just an outside opinion for ya.

@Chrysoberyl:  people are so shitty. im sorry 🙁

i can’t stand any of this nonsense. people are disrespectful and cannot handle the fact that others do not agree with their political views- and many for good reason.

i’d leave it up!

I don’t think it was rude, but I think I am easier thing to do would be to block people until the election is over and people have simmered down.  You got political just as they did, to be honest.

I’m tired of politics. Let’s just get this election over with and be done with it. No one can voice their opinion without being verbally attacked. I’ve found that if you don’t want to be at the end of a long line of negative comments, just stay far, far away from politics!

FB and politics just don’t mix. I get so heated seeing posts from different people who don’t take the time to actually educate themselves on the key issues and go along with the people who are all “where’s his birth certificate?” etc. Some people are just so ignorant. You are entitled to free speech just as much as the rest of us. If the comments are bothering you that much, then take the post down just so you don’t have to read them. But you ARE entitled to your own opinion. Some people are just shitty.

Tell them you can use your right to free speech to ask them to shut their mouths, if you so choose.

However, while I agree that the debate has gotten to be about personal attacks more than real issues, 1) I also hate political fb posts, 2) I think that the way you went about it is wrong because these people are putting themselves out in the public and know in advance that they’re going to be under scrutiny and should be under scrutiny, and 3) it’s way too touchy feely for my taste and too long, too.

You could easily have said the same thing in less words and probably gotten less flack.

Also, you made fun of Ryan – you said something so mean in the same breath that you were trying to get other people to stop saying mean things.  Very hypocritical.

All of this political turnmoil is making me puke, I can imagine most of us feel the same, you didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just a highly charged and polarized climate right now, I would delete the post, that sends the message that you didn’t appreciate everyone’s venom, and hide the feeds from the political offenders…for me FB is supposed to be a fun place, not a election year melting pot of innacuracy and slander.

Only two more weeks honey, hang in there!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what you posted in and of itself, but you know your FB friends better than we do, so maybe it did rub them the wrong way… I don’t know, I don’t post anything political on FB.

Political posts always inflame passions, but the negativity isn’t really directed at you personally, if you know what I mean.

For example, I disagree with your post. If I saw that on FB and was in the mood, I might make a snarky reply (I’d consider it witty, but if you disagreed with me you’d probably not find it so witty). It wouldn’t be to hurt the feelings of the person who posted it and I wouldn’t be thinking bad things about the person who posted it (besides, I guess, “she doesn’t get it…” on this issue, but that really doesn’t generalize to how I feel about her overall.) I would do it because I have strong political opinions so the way I express them can come out strongly. KWIM?

By The Way, in answer to your question, no I wouldn’t take it down. It’s your opinion and not particularly hostile or rude. People who disagree with it can totally handle it. If they can’t, I’d wonder what else they can’t handle. You can’t live your life walkng on eggshells.

I think you have a good point!  I mean, discussing the politics and their stance on various issues is one thing, but when people start judging them based on their looks and heritage and whatnot, it’s a little beside the point.  My family tends to do this a lot, which drives me up a wall, because I’m not really sure how someone’s laugh or smile or hair could actually impact their ability as a president.  So I agree with you.  I think people just don’t like to hear that they are being intolerent or whatever.

@Chrysoberyl:  As I see all these snarky posts and comments on facebook and throughout the internet about Romney, Biden, Obama and Ryan (What an idiot. Look at that stupid smile. His hair looks like a wig. He’s evil and a jackass.) I can’t help but think..

That’s what you wrote…

ETA:  UNLESS you meant that as EXAMPLES.. in which case, I completely misunderstood lol
