When I get engaged I quit smoking because the cost for a pack became almost 10$!!! I could no longer justify the pleasure I got in smoking between the cost of it to my wallet and my health. Just think about all of the money you will save!!!

Just been to the shop and purchased an e-cig/vapour stick instead of 20 cigerettes. Fiance is home now and very very pleased with my decision, my ds is really happy too. I’m going for it ladies !!!

Good for you! I am also a long time smoker, so is my Fiance, we have decided tomorrow is our last day! We have tried and failed a few times but we did our budget this week, it really hit us just how much we waste on this horrible habit. Just know you are not alone! It is insane to add up the costs of it, at least for us it was, over $2k a year. You can do it!

I was about a pack a day smoker for 12 years and somewhat unwillingly quit 4 1/2 years ago. I say somewhat unwillingly since I actually enjoyed smoking, but I obviously didn’t care for health risks and effects on my wallet. Like you, I had tried to quit countless of times using the patch, nictoine gum, going cold turkey, books, meditation, accupuncture, etc…but none of them worked for me. I also refused to use Chantix or Wellbutrin because of the dangerous side effects.
E-cigarettes are what did for me though. I quit the very same day I got my e-cig and I am now a huge advocate of them! I remember trying to smoke a cigarette two weeks later and was absolutely disgusted by it, and that’s when I knew I was quitting for good. FI quit the same day as well and it was actually because of e-cigs that we met, so it was a double success for us. 😉
Me and FI’s quitting story is a bit out of the norm, so whether you try e-cigs or not, quitting smoking does take time and requires patience so don’t be too hard on yourself if you lapse. As far as motivation goes, knowing that you’ll be saving money and being able to spend more years with your loved ones will be worth it.
There will also be moments after you quit where you feel the awesome benefits of being smoke-free. Like the moment when you wake up in the morning without smoker’s cough and/or phlegm, and food will all of a sudden taste AMAZING when you get your taste buds back! FI remembers eating a slice of cucumber (a cucumber!) after he quit and exclaiming, “holy crap! have cucumbers always had this much flavor?!”. Lol!
You can do it!

You go, girl! DH quit smoking about 6 months after we started dating. It definitely tok him a few tries, and there were slip-ups. He switched to chew for about a month and found it disgusting (me too!). He is surrounded by smokers every day at work, so he still has one occasionaly, but never buys packs, so I let it go.
I think this may be your time! You said you’ve tried before- maybe this time is the charm! Whenever you are tempted, remember how proud your Fiance is of you for quitting, how the extra money will go to your dream dress, venue, etc. You got this!

Congratulations! I wish you a long and happy road to a smoke free life! I hope your SO will be just as happy as you are!
I have severe asthma and anytime I walk near cigarette smoke (or really any smoke for that matter) I can feel my lungs tingling, burning almost. Cigarette smoke is the most common one I interact with on a daily basis. Just having one less puff of smoke in the area really helps.
