@coffeegal85:  Ugh. Don’t feel bad, when I left the company I use to work for they offered a counter offer but then I realized it was because they wanted to go on a vacation (they couldn’t if I left) and they were going to let me go right when they got back. Some companies suck. Im sorry):

@coffeegal85:  Keep your head up. You are right that you will be off to bigger and better things. I’m sorry they acted that way. I know how it feels to be unappreciated at a job. It’s not worth it. Now I’m at a job that not only values me, but really makes me feel like I’m a part of something big. You didn’t mention if you already have another job lined up yet or not. If you do-great! I’m sure you will be much happier. If you dont-go after your dream job! You owe it to yourself to be happy in what you do. That’s what I told myself and even though I learned a lot from those other jobs, I mostly learned what I will NOT subject myself to again.

Just get through these two weeks with your head held high. Repeatedly remind yourself that you don’t deserve this treatment, and you’re going to be better off. PM anytime if you need to. Hugs ๐Ÿ™‚

@coffeegal85:  That sucks!  But you know, what? Screw ’em!  You’ll be happier elsewhere.  // My boss knew that I had gotten married and she already got a temp agency to shadow me “just in case”.  In case of what?  That I move or get preggers?  Ugh.

@coffeegal85:  Try not to fell bad especially if they didn’t even value you or the work you do for them.  New doors with better opportunities will open for you.  If you did this, is cause you know you deserve better and i am sure you do ๐Ÿ™‚

I hear you. The same thing happened to me. As others have said, its validation for knowing you made the right decision. Now I am working for the # 1 Bank in the U.S., they pay me a lot more and they treat me amazingly! Better things are coming your way soon! Laughing

@coffeegal85:  don’t stress! Be a professional the last 2 weeks, and walk away with your hands clean. When I left my last job, my boss was taken totally by surprise, and definitely took it personally. But you know what? I offered to stay on for an extra week to uphold a travel committment I had made, and worked my tail off with succession plans, manuals, etc. She and I still talk to this day, and she’s more of a mentor to me now than she was while I was working.

Onwards and upwards!

ETA: Career professionals and coaches never suggest taking a counter offer, unless it’s really, really, really good. They’re on to the fact that you were leaving, and you’ll be forever remembered for it.

I know how you feel – I went through the same this two months ago and I promise you you’re better off! Don’t stress about the counter offer – its usually not a good career move to take it anyway. Here’s an article I found interesting when I was getting ready to switch

Good luck at your new job! And just remember – these two weeks will fly by!
