This post honestly breaks my heart.

why the hell haven’t you treated the poor cat’s ringworm and fleas???

i really think that if you aren’t going to take care of it, you need to get rid of it… give it to someone who will care properly for it.

besides, such a small place is not suitable for an animal that needs to get exercise (and it getting it the only way it can in such a cramped space).

Poor kitty 🙁 will he be able to go live with your SO when the ringworm is cleared up? He really needs to be somewhere where he wanted and not ignored. And please don’t hold the ringworm against him… It’s obviously not his fault. As or the behaviors there are several ways to “train” a kitten, including using a spray bottle. You can easily find them online. Good luck to you and your kitty

i don’t like that you don’t even want to be close to the cat. like he’s a nuisance for wanting to cuddle and be loved. animals need affection too, ya know. ignoring him is mean.

That’s what it’s like living with a cat, they do what they want when they want it.  I gave up tring to keep my cats off the counters, and I have to keep the blinds slightly raised so they can sit in the window and not chew on them.  Cats are definitely affectionate when they want to be, no getting around that unfortunately.  Just give him some time to settle into his environment and develop his personality, and you two will be fine.  Sounds like you do want to keep him, so just let yourselves get used to each other and your routines.

My girl kitty will bug me for attention when I’m sleeping.  I blow a puff of air in her face and that is usually enough to annoy her to go sit back down and go to sleep.  Try having a really good play session to tire him out right before bed.

he’s a kitten and he’s bored. Why don’t you try and rehome him into a home with other cats? He’ll be so much happier.

@notestasiskis:  Fleas and ringworm are very common in texas even from reputable breeders. It is the environment that makes it much harder to get rid of. Message me if you really want to place the cat, I know some breed rescues in Texas. I don’t suppose you want a second cat to keep him company?

@notestasiskis:  watch my cat from hell if you need tips on training a cat. honestly it is like with any animal/child you just need to be firm and persistent. Also giving alternative outlets like walking him before bed or cat shelves to climb on help a lot.

My cat is basically a climbing stubburn puppy too but she listens to me because I don’t give her alternative options.

You need to get rid of the ringworm, and then try to find a home where he will be loved and not just… barely tolerated. I love cats and reading your post makes me really sad. He will grow up to be a product of his surroundings, and you will probably just end up disliking him more and end up putting him in a pound because rehoming adult cats is nearly impossible and it doesn’t sound like you’re an interactive pet person. Please just get him well and then look for a home with someone who would love a kitten. While I’m glad that you are keeping him well and fed, he deserves more than just to be tolerated… =(

uuuugh. This is all typical cat behavior. Did you know nothing of cats before??? Aluminum foil will keep him off countertops. Really play with him & wear him out & he will let you sleep.
