I love your ring and think it is absolutely beautiful! And you can really change the look of it by the type of wedding band you select. That ring will go with almost any wedding ring you could want.
I do understand where you are coming from though. I prefer almost everything to be somewhat unique. I don’t like to have things that are “cookie cutter” and neither does my Fiance, so imagine my surprise when I received a round stone. I always thought I would have an oval, pear, or cushion cut and kind of had my heart set on something different from what I have. But he was so excited to tell me about picking out the stone and the setting and why they are perfect for me (we never discussed rings)…It changed how I saw my ring and I love it for what it represents. I wouldn’t trade it for anything now.

It is almost verging into my dream ring territory. Send that baby to me in Australia, I promise to take very good care of it.

I too think it’s really beautiful! I know how it feels to dislike your ring.. My previous engagement ring was everything I disliked on myself (princess cut, small stone (I don’t think I’m shallow for saying I hate smaller stones on myself) and with a split shank) it just didn’t match me. Communication is important. Consider talking to your fiance and maybe mentioning you’d like to add a halo?

Remember that halos are really trendy. Even if you get it now, you might not love it in the future as styles change.
I think your ring is quite beautiful but I understand not wanting to wear something you don’t love. I would explore enhancers and changing the setting. But be gentle on Fiance.

: As a guy I would want my girl to tell me if she didn’t like the ring.
That ring is not to my liking either. Maybe you could show us the style you wanted?

I’m not a fan of pears & I think it’s gorgeous! The center stone is so white & brilliant. Since your Fi designed it himself, I’d tread very lightly when you talk to him about it. He probably put a lot of thought into it & is very proud of it.
But, if you don’t like it, you don’t like it.

I love pears and actually love your setting. You have options for wedding bands too that might make you love it more. I agree with others that you should tread light so as not to hurt his feelings – especially since he designed it… But you should probably say something if you dislike it that much.
I don’t think I would go as far as a new center as I’m betting he spent a fair amount of time choosing yours (it’s lovely) but maybe think of settings you might like more. Remember that he did just spend a fair amount on this ring so I wouldn’t go crazy with changes for fear of hurting his feelings and making it seem like you don’t appreciate the gesture.
Best of luck! 🙂

you know I think that pear would like so much more stunning as a solitaire without the other diamonds distracting from it. Maybe you could reset it, and use the side stones in your wedding band?

Wow, I honestly hate pears and your ring is GORGEOUS. But I’m so sorry you don’t like it!! 🙁 sucky situation for sure. I agree with some PPs, tread lightly for sure.

Im wirth everyone else, the ring is gorgeous but you’re the only one who has to like it. You said you liked pear rings so is the center ok? The centers the most expensive part so I’m sure it wouldnt be a huge deal to pick a different setting.
You could trade in the sidestones towards a setting like this (Stuller 68871)

Looks like a nice stone. Should be easy to drop that baby into a halo setting. That would be a good compromise.

Just what I was thinking! Pears look gorgeous in a bezel as well.
I really like your ring!! But since you arnt happy with it, could you have the center pear diamond reset into a setting you love? If it’s ok with your SO.

futuremagikarp: I have a .55 carat pear diamond that my mom gave me and I plain to have it set in a bezel as a right hand ring. A halo would be gorgeous too!
