Your wedding cake gets center stage and part of the “cutting of the cake” spotlight. Its beautiful and no one is going to think it’s upstaged!

I’m a huge LOTR fan too and his cake looks amazing, and I wouldn’t begrudge him it, because anyone who’s there is going to know that your wedding cake is your wedding cake and it is just beautiful. Plus you’ll seem like the super cool bride who’d let her groom get his cake he wanted on his special day 😉

What about having the grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner?

blushblossom91:  How set are you on having a traditional wedding cake?  If you are a LOTR fan as well, would you consider having that cake as your only cake?  Unless your wedding is huge, 2 4-tier cakes seems like a LOT of cake.

blushblossom91:  i wouldn’t worry about it. i am not sure about your situation, but in mine, everything about the way the wedding looked was for me and my taste, so i would just let this one (no matter the size) large cake go. it’s going to make your future husband very happy 🙂

Oh come on, it’s cake, who cares. You’ll only be cutting one.

blushblossom91:  Could you talk him into a smaller LOTR cake?  Maybe Bilbo’s house or something that’s easily identifiable but not as over the top?

blushblossom91:  As long as you don’t have to pay for it, I think it’d be awesome! Just one more personal touch that makes your wedding that much more unique and reflective of who you are as a couple.

Honestly, you are over thinking this. It is only cake. Your guests will look at both cakes, give them abut 2 seconds of thought, and then wonder when they get to eat it!

blushblossom91:  Let him have his cake. If you don’t want the “real” one upstaged, then swap them so his IS the “real” one. I’ts not a big deal. And who cares if the groom’s cake is cooler than the wedding cake anyway? It just means you’re a cool couple.

And free cake!

My wedding cake was a pound cake in 3 different designs on 3 different tiers. Then we had strawberries and whipped cream for the guests to make strawberry short cakes. My DH’s cake was a can of Skoal tobacco with our name’s and wedding date on it. I think they were both special in their own way, and if you let yourself think his is going to upstage it, it will. Just think, these are both perfect, each for its’ own meaning/reason. His is perfect for him, and yours is perfect for you. They’ll look so different, that each will have its moment, which I think is important. It’s a day for you both.
