@SoontobeMrsA: Oh no! I am sorry that happened, it was 100% an accident. Does baby girl feel like it’s her fault at all, I hope not πŸ™

Darling Husband got a new xbox with kinect right after Christmas and about 3 weeks ago I had opened the drive to put a different game in. Well we started messing around and he threw a blanket at me and I went to throw it off of me and it BENT the disc drive. I don’t even know how it happened because I hardly threw it! It made this AWFUL sound and he got instant angry eyes at me. We fixed it after about an hour of youtube videos and found out it was just off the track. Oh boy I felt like such an A- hole! I may or may not have cried about it haha.

ETA: Also “Annabelle” is my new hero for shaking your soda haha

Aw I’m sorry πŸ™ I’ve spilled water on my very pricey laptop twice now… both times I was able to save it by taking out the battery, putting it on a tray or in a tupperware container and covering it with lots dry rice for 24 hours to soak up the moisture. If you fried something though, there is nothing you can do… but maybe you could at least try that? One time my laptop wouldn’t turn on for almost two days but I just kept it in the rice and it eventually came back to life and I’m using it right now lol.

I haven’t at home – yet! – hehe… but at work I’ve done that same exact thing & ruined two keyboards, IT department must hate me. Carbonated beverages & computers can equal disaster!

@SoontobeMrsA: This new-bee feels your pain… My Fiance and I were in charge of cooking dinner for our family this past Christmas. We were trying out a new ham hock recipe, and I was reading out the instructions from his brand new laptop that was on the kitchen counter. I leant in a little too far – when will I accept I actually need to use my reading glasses – and knocked over a glass of wine… all over his keyboard. Even though there was a tiny amount in the glass (was just tasting it, honest), the whole thing fritzed out. He knew it was an accident and he was SO mad, but couldn’t really show it because it was Christmas and my parents were there.

Poor guy. I felt terrible, and it definitely put a dampner (no pun intended) on Christmas.

I so know how you feel x

@SoontobeMrsA: It seriously has saved me multiple times. Just get lots of rice and cover the laptop as much as possible with it and let it sit without turning it on for at least a day. Who knows, it might just fix it! It works with all kinds of devices too. I suggested it to my sister who dropped her iPod in the pool and it fixed it too.

@rachiecakes: Oh, yeah, I’ve also killed work keyboards by spilling mugs of tea. I forgot about that until I read your post… wow, I shouldn’t be around beverages and electronic equpiment, clearly.

That SUCKS! I spilled a glass of water on my laptop just last month – I felt like a complete idiot, because it could have been avoided and I only had myself to blame.

I got lucky because once it dried out everything worked. For about a week…then it was toast. No power, nothing. Come to find out that’s the LAST day it was under warranty so we ended up at Best Buy at 9:00pm to get it in before the deadline. They shipped it off and I guess the manufacturer was able to fix it (even with the water damage) because it works now.

I bought a 2TB hard drive to back-up everything. And this is my “working-on-the-computer” cup now. Lesson learned.
