Hey bees!! (Sorry if this is double posted, I accidentally posted in the classified section first, so I deleted it and am trying again… Take 2!)
I’m so excited because I said YES to a dress!!! And, more importantly, I felt confident in my body and shape, and didn’t feel the need to hide my curves — which is such a huge accomplishment for me.
I went into wedding dress shopping worried that I was going to feel really insecure in all the dresses and wouldn’t be able to find anything that looked good on me and my body. I have lost ~40 lbs over the past 6 months and am still used to thinking of myself as obese and heavy, and still used to hiding myself with flowy loose clothes. I was planning to get a dress with a flowy skirt that would hide my stomach and my hips, but when I tried on this dress, all of that changed.
I absolutely love my dress and feel so elegant and pretty in it. It’ll be better fitted in the bust after it’s altered, so it won’t be quite so droopy and it will sit higher on my chest. But other than that, it fit like a glove! I feel really fortunate to have found such an amazing dress, and I am going to try to use this as a lesson to be nicer to myself and not be so harsh about all the things that could be better, and instead to try to see the good things, too.
And a close-up of the lace on the back of the dress, because I love it! Ignore the line from my shapewear, haha — I didn’t expect to get something with a low back like this! I will wear different shapewear, if any at all, for the actual wedding.
Just for fun, here is the style I *thought* I’d get… I don’t think it’s nearly as flattering! Or, as one of the bridal consultants said to me after I tried on the dress above, “Girl, why were you wearing a poofy dress when you have all those curves under there!?” I still think it’s a gorgeous dress and style, it’s just not the right dress for me. You never know until you try!
Anyway, sorry for all the pictures — I hope you like the dress I picked, and I’m looking forward to the rest of wedding planning now that one more big item has been crossed off the list!
