I went to David’s yesterday with my mom and grandmother, thinking this was the first of many trips. I also went in thinking I wanted a lace sheath dress and ended up walking out with a tulle ball gown. Go figure! The self-consciousness of my wide hips runs deep apparently, and I hated anything that accentuated them. I really lucked out with my consultant. She was the best and she helped me out a lot. She also helped me in and out of around 15 dresses. The first half were all lace sheath/trumpet/mermaid and although everyone else liked them, I was just not into it at all. The consultant listened to the issues I have with my hips and brought over a ball gown. I was really hesitant, but put it on anyway and it’s the one that made the ladies cry! I tried on a few more that I liked a lot, but went back to that first one, style MK3576 in ivory. I’m not going to do that sash I have on. I’ll either go sash-less or get a thin sash and wear it along the seam like on the pic from the website. What do you think?! (Also taking any ideas for the sash situation!) Sorry if the pics are huge.

sooo pretty! I’m obsessed with tulle! I always wanted a ballgown but I am so short that they overwhelm my figure. They are so pretty though. I love this one because you can definitely have different options of how it will look depending on what type of sash or belt that you choose!

What hips? Beautiful dress! My dress had a satin belt stiched over the seam – maybe your alterations specialist can help with this? Allure 9166.
Feminine, classy, classic.
PS If you go with a petticoat, they’re much cheaper online – like <$20 instead of $70 at David’s Bridal.

Another bride just posted about getting this dress today also … They also asked about the sash and I am usually team belt but, I feel the belts break you up into three pieces and it looks kind of akward not having the belt match the seam with that I also think that a belt down lower will not be flatter as it will take focus away from the smallest part of your waist …. So I say no sash or belt instead put your bling in your jewlery and headpiece and stick with a simple classic silhouette

It’s beautiful on you! Congratulations on finding the one!!!

Absolutely lovely . Yes sashless or with a thin belt at the seam as you suggest. Do not go back to the generic sheath/trumpet/mermaid shape ,this is The One!
Oh and you look infinitely superior to the model in it too!

Your dress looks great on you! This dress is a serious contender for me, I have a whole thread about it and the belt issue. On me, the belt does not look good at the seam. I tried thinner and thicker belts and it just made me look wider when the belt was placed there. But another lady posted a pic with the same belt at the seam and it looks great on her! I guess you’ll just need to experiment to see what looks best.
