My FI and I set two dates for our wedding – on November 8th, we will be getting married at City Hall in a private ceremony, and on November 9th, we will be hosting our reception. It’s going to be a very city wedding with our reception being at a trendy restaurant in NJ just outside of NYC. We rented out the lounge and rooftop deck for the reception or party as I call it, and the rooftop deck will actually have a view of the NYC skyline. Since it will be an evening affair, guests will be able to glimpse the skyline at night. Anyway, I hope that this little narrative sets the scene for my dress choices as they are NOT traditional – I am aware of this, lol.
I was having a dilemma and stuck between two dresses. A more professional Nordstrom one or a more fun replica from Dressilyme (which I read reviews on and learned is the “best” replica dressmaker from China)? I felt the professional Nordstrom one was cute, but it was missing that certain je-ne-sais-quoi that made me want to use it as a party dress. However, I didn’t want to risk the Dressilyme dress not turning out the way I hoped as it will be tailored in China and available in a month. What to do, what to do?
So…I picked BOTH! 🙂 The Nordstrom one is perfect for city hall and as an emergency dress should the Dressilyme one not work out whereas the Dressilyme one is the PERFECT fun party dress. Best of all? I think I spent like $410 total on the two. This is what I ordered ladies:
I am super excited about these… I mean, how FUN are those ruffles??? I will definitely post pics of me in them once I get them!

Thanks ladies! I can’t wait to get them! It’s funny b/c I was so against wearing any form of white for my wedding (wanted to wear a red BeBe bodycon dress, haha). Then my mom sent me a couple links to really cute short white dresses and told me to “think about it.” After seeing a couple, I was convinced!

@MrsNewDay: What a great deal for 2 dresses! I wasn’t going to reply until I read that part because I can’t stand wasting money and never have anything nice to say, lol. However you got what you wanted and were really reasonable about what you spent – something I can definitely admire 🙂

@MrsPanda99: Thank you! Yes, $850 and up wedding dresses were just never an option for me. I never had your typical little girl dreams of being a bride wearing the whole huge white gown and all that. On top of that, my FI and I are paying for our wedding festivities ourselves with a small contribution from my mom for centerpieces. I really couldn’t get too crazy in the dress department….

@MrsNewDay: I am in the same boat. I understand alterations cost a lot too, so I don’t want go overboard with how much my dress costs. We are paying for everything on our own and even though we are having a simple elopement, we would like a nice honeymoon. It is encouraging that you found something so nice for a great price (well, 2 somethings, which is even better!).
