Someone in my neighborhood put up all their Christmas decorations over the weekend. From a light up Santa on a train to lots of blow up pieces and all their string lights.
I haven’t been by at night so I don’t know if they are lighting them all up yet. But the front yard is covered.
Is it just me or is this CRAZY???? It is not even Halloween yet!!!!
I love Nordstrom’s policy: one holiday at a time.

ajillity81: We’ve had someone in the ‘hood who has one small tree with Xmas lights on it since SEPTEMBER. And yes, he turns it on. I’ve wanted to take some sort of snippers to it in the middle of the night. It just.ain’t.right.

Someone in our neighborhood put up Xmas decorations for Halloween last year to confuse the trick-or-treaters. They wore tacky Christmas sweaters and santa hats when they greeted kids at the door. Hopefully your neighbor had the same idea?

ajillity81: I agree with one holiday at a time. I think mid-November is still a bit early for Christmas, but as long as people wait for Remembrance Day I don’t think it’s too out there. Retail has more leeway IMO.

bleusteel: That’s funny!
ajillity81: Maybe they just really hate Halloween and are trying to bypass it? But what about Thanksgiving?
I was going to say maybe they just wanted to get a head start before the weather gets bad but there really is just no excuse for this atrocity!

Not OK! Costco has had Christmas decorations since August. I love the holidays, but come on people…can’t we give Halloween and Thanksgiving their seasons too?! Have some patience!

I guess I should add I give a pass for putting up Christmas lights. Darling Husband took some holidays and I’ve been trying to convince them to put them up. It’s much easier before it gets all snowy and icy! We won’t be turning them on this early other than to test them out.

ajillity81: This reminds me of last year, when my Fiance and I were in the mall around the 20th of October…they had already had their huge Santa Claus/Christmas display out, and yes, Santa was down there with kids in his lap! Crazy!

We have been decorating our house for Halloween, and when we went to buy decor two weeks ago it was great. Loads of cool Halloween stuff.
When we went back this weekend looking for some specific things we had passed up in Lowe’s & Big Lots – all of the Halloween stuff was gone, and the Christmas stuff had taken over!

ajillity81: That’s just crazy. Fiance and I were fuming yesterday because we went into Lowe’s to purchase some Halloween decor we had our eye on–only to find all Halloween decorations gone and replaced by Christmas items!!! It’s not even Halloween–HOW CAN THEY NOT SELL HALLOWEEN STUFF ANYMORE!? Honestly, I’m a firm believer in one holiday at a time. I actually love this time of year because of the different holidays and such. I love Halloween and love seeing all of the different decorations in the stores. I will do a massive loop between Target, Pier 1, HomeGoods, and WalMart to see the different decorations. Once Halloween is over, though I do start getting excited for Christmas. Usually by the time Thanksgiving rolls around my family is in full Christmas-mode with decorating. We’ve had a tradition of putting up our tree the Friday after Thanksgiving for a while, so I guess we’re the dreaded few who go too hard too early, haha.

ajillity81: I was driving around a residential area yesterday that is close to my husband’s work- I was meeting him for lunch and was a little early. There was a house with a huge window- and in that window was a Christmas tree.
The house reminded me of an old couple’s house, and the tree was interesting….and artificial- leading me to believe that perhaps they just left it up all year round. Regardless, it was up yesterday!!!

RedHeadKel: at least it was little and in their house. i’m glad i don’t live next door to these people.
bleusteel: that is hysterical. but i doubt my neighbors are thinking that.
Audrey2_sings: i saw all the costco christmas stuff over the summer too. i went to buy a beach cart at the end of the season and found it way in the back. but glad it was still out.

I hate that Christmas stuff comes out so early. I start decorating the Friday after US Thanksgiving- one holiday at a time please!!

I also hate that Christmas stuff comes out so early. This is my favorite time of the year and I LOVE decorating for the holidays and will usually do Halloween for October (we have a big costume party every year), Fall themed for November, and Christmas for December. This year I started putting fall stuff out already bc we won’t be in town for Halloween and I also wanted to get more Fall themed decor. Every single store I’ve been in has like 2 small shelves of fake pumpkins and wreaths, and then 3 aisles of Christmas stuff…drives me nuts.

There are a handful of christmas decorated [outdoor] homes in my neighborhood already, too. Moreso halloween ones, but there are some christmas ones. I guess some people don’t like halloween!

I’m not a fan of Christmas at all, so I get grumpy that the stuff comes out so early.
