i wish i hadn’t registered for a starter knife set that wasn’t great quality but had a lot of knives.  for the same price, i could have registered for one or two really great knives.  for our everyday needs, that’s all we use anyway.  we actually ended up returning the set but the friend who bought it for us loves the idea that he bought us something we use everyday to cook and prepare our meals.  i hope he never comes over and asks where his knife set is!

We went crazy with kitchen "gadgets" that we don’t use a lot (and don’t have room for) like a mandoline slicer…

I really wish we had gotten one of those Pyrex’s that has the carrying case…in a tough economy we have been doing a lot of group dinners. 🙂   Basic things, too – a covered pitcher, kitchen shears (no one ever registers for those…), a utensil holder (if you will have a deck and want to eat outside). 🙂

(Btw, I agree about the knife thing – you probably only need a paring and a chopping)

Anyway, have fun and congrats!

My brother says: "Condoms"

K, no more reading over my shoulder.

My mom said things like Le Gourmet Chef sells…like an apple corer or something silly like an avocado slicer.  She said she’d never buy those now…but if they were a gift….
