Aww that’s okay, it happens.  I sent my sister’s boyfriends parents an invitation, and I spelled their last name wrong…but I spelled his last name right.  Classy move.

I would ask your FH to step up to the plate and call to apologize himself to tell them he proofed them and missed the misspelling if you think they will be sensitive about it.

But it happens. My FH’s cousin spelt his name wrong on an invitation two years ago. I thought it was funny, but we didnt tell her either!  We didnt want to embarrass her.

On our STD’s I addressed my parents friends as Mr. and Mrs. Hamas yeah maybe I watch to much news because there last name is actually Haman. I only figured this out when I was going over the wedding guest list and my Fiance started laughing that their last name was so controversial and then I was so embarrassed.

Oh well!  At least you know that you double checked it before it was sent… and the groom he should confess to Oma and Opa!  But don’t worry there are worse things that can happen to a invitation!  I was once invited to a wedding that misspelled the bride’s first name!  She happens to have the same name as I do, and so I noticed it on the invite… and thought that it seemed strange because I thought that it was actually spelled the same exact way that I spell my name.  She actually goes by a diminutive of her name, so I thought… well maybe it’s always been misspelled by people for years who are used to my spelling!  We arrived at the wedding, and the bride’s mom said that the mistake was discovered but it was too late to get another invitation made!  (Everyone was commenting… that we didn’t know that was how she spelled her name!)

Ugh, I did this to one of my husband’s relatives too.  I went with Mark with a K instead of Marc with a C…. they sent back their reply card like… Marc and Joanne will be happy to attend, and told my inlaws who got mad at me about not respecting their family… it was awesome.

I pointed out that THEIR son had been asked numerous times to spell out, and proofread the names of these people I’d never met before they were sent ou.

@KaitlinHudson: I would absolutely throw him under the bus.  How is it fair that every mistake is automatically blamed on the bride…. makes me annoyed.
