After planning 100% of my wedding, I fell in love with the idea of actually becoming a wedding coordinator. My “wedding coordinator”, if thats what you want to call her; totally sucked!!! She was only worth a crap in the very beginning of my wedding planning. Yeah, thanks for the vendor numbers lady! Anyhoo…I started researching how to become a wedding coordinator the week after my wedding, and viola! I’ve found a lady in my hometown who wants me to apprentice under her starting in January!!! I couldn’t be more stoked about this. My Darling Husband is so excited for me. He told me I gave us a beautiful wedding, and he knows I’ll help many brides-to-be very happy! Aww…what a big ol’ sweetie pie!
My question to you bees; have any of you considered being a coordinator after your wedding was over?!

This would be fun.
Did you just call a bunch to ask who was willing to take you?

That’s exactly what I did. I googled how to become a wedding coordinator. I figured you might have to have a degree in event coordinating or something like that. Turns out you don’t. The web site said the best thing to do was to find someone who you could apprentice under first. The site also said it didn’t hurt to take a few courses in event planning (which I may end up doing, if I decide I really want to persue it). When I talked to the lady who wants me to apprentice, she said it was very typical for her to have people who apprenticed under her. I thought that was awesome. I won’t lie, a few of the coordinators I talked to acted like I was nuts…but those are the kind of coordinators that I would probably end up telling off if they got crazy with me lol. I think I found the coolest one around here though! I’m sooo excited!!!

I am doing the same thing! I haven’t had mine yet but I am having so much fun planning it, and am also helping some friends plan theirs. In Canada there is The Wedding Planners Institue of Canada. They run weekend courses and voila, you are certified!

awww!!!!!!!! You are so lucky. I have a friend that I am trying to get into this, she is so good at it and she loves it. A community college near us offers classes on wedding coordination and I wanted her to take them.

I have always loved planning things and I am mainly in charge of my wedding planning right now. In South Dakota there are not many wedding planners so I would have to start my own buiness and go from there.
I will be taking a course to make it seem like I know what I am doing!

I would LOVE to do this! That’s so awesome! Congrats!
So how often will you be with her? Is it only when she has events? Does she do this full time?
I’m curious as to who it is….would you mind Pm-ing me with a name?
