we all sat down and trimmed that sucker! She went from “200-250” to 162. Heck. Yes.
I also talked to my mom about who we needed on our part of the guest list, and we came up with about 60, but about half of them probably won’t come (mostly out of town relatives that we communicate with occasionally and apparently “need” to invite). So all together that’s 222! Plus, Fiance and I have quite a few friends between the two of us, so we accounted for about 50 people there (including bridal party and friendors).
Either way, that’s significantly under 300 even if EVERYONE shows up, which they won’t. So instead of a wedding with 350 or more, we’re looking at more like 250-300. Budget score!
Oh, and my mother asked me how much I was looking to spend on a dress, and I told her 500 or less. She was shocked and told me that she’d make sure I got the dress I wanted and didn’t have to settle for anything. Apparently she and my dad are working on a tentative budget that they want to provide to help us out. I was so touched! They aren’t exactly well off financially and I wasn’t anticipating that at all.
And on top of all that… Fiance and I started a joint savings account this weekend! I got a refund check from school from a grant I didn’t know I was getting, and we put a good chunk of it away to save for the wedding! Oh, and we set it up so that it automatically transfers $10 from my checking on the 1st and 3rd mondays of the month, and $20 from his checking on the 2nd and 4th mondays of the month. So we’re automatically putting a little bit away, even on our college student budgets.
It was a good weekend for the budget! Just wanted to share 🙂
