I roasted some chestnuts and started eating one and it tasted “off”… so I tasted another.. it was ok then I sniffed and smelled mold… I didn’t see any and don’t know if my nose is being sensitive but I threw them out. … Looked online… read others who ate moldy bread and no worries.
Well, just now I pulled my car into the garage and came in. Going from cold to warm sometimes triggers me to cough/gag/throw up a little (TMI and gross sorry)… but I came in and BAM started throwing up violently (for me, at least.. I HATE throwing up and only got sick 2 times since being pregnant (I’m 9 weeks).. one morning sickness and only a little water and the other only a little water because I was already queazy and my dog puked two huge piles I had to clean up and it triggered. This is the first “empty my stomach dry heave” …. should I be worried? I’m hoping if it WAS the chestnuts my body got rid of all of the bad…. or if it was the cold it was just a chain reaction (which puking typically does for me)….
Reassure me, Bees…. even though this is the most disgusting post I’ve ever typed… there’s no chance I poisoned my baby, right??

I definitely think everything will be fine even if you did eat a couple of mouldy chestnuts. *hug* “morning” sickness can be REALLY random sometimes.

I’m sure everything is fine. Seems like morning sickness randomness.

Most mold isn’t “poisonous” as most people think it. So, no, you didn’t poison anything, you may have just irritated your belly or a boute of random morning sickness.

Thanks for your responses… I really appreciate it:)
Where are these women who say they love being pregnant? What am I doing wrong? LOL! I’m anxious to get over this first trimester business!

@CindyRelly: Dude, my mom tries to talk me into having a baby with the “But I loved being pregnant!” I don’t believe it for a second!
You’re probably fine. @Hyperventilate is right, you might have irritated your tummy a little but you’d be doing a lot worse if there was any actual poisoning. Just an upset stomach. I’m not a doctor but I would bet on nothing wrong.

I ate a rotten peach when I was around 20 weeks. I was freaking out too! I downed a Coke and swished it around in my mouth hoping that the acid in it would kill anything. LOL I was fine. If you get sick remember to drink lots of fluid. I had the stomach flu while pregnant and they told me to just keep drinking fluids.

I’m sure you’re fine! I’m super paranoid too if it makes you feel any better!

I ate some bread (which looked fine) only to realize after the rest of the loaf had some mould on it. I never had any adverse reactions but the worst that would happen is you throwing up a bit for a few hours. Especially if it was only a few nuts. I think it was more a case of your cough causing you to gag and be sick.
I didn’t throw up much in my early pregnancy, but there were a couple random times where I thought “what the heck was that?” so it’s totally normal. Hope you feel better!
