professorplum:  +1!!! Right? so glad that I’ve “wasted” my money On a namebrand shane co ring. Except for- I’ve had several free sizings, a new free taller prong head, free rhodium plating, free soldering and (well pretty much any maintenance) for the rest of my life….Oh ya and i cracked my initial diamond, and they replaced it with a nicer/slightly bigger stone. I guess the thousands of dollars of savings over the next 50 years should be disregarded because it’s a name brand….lol!!

inlovewithlibra:  Go with what you love. My engagement ring is in my profile pic. Technically it is a right hand/cocktail ring, but it was beautiful and want i wanted. People probably didnt even realized I was engaged. Get what you and you future husband love.

The ring is absolutely gorgeous! I love it.

inlovewithlibra:  You should absolutely go for the style you like, not what anyone else thinks is the done thing, but I share pps’ concerns about durability. It contains many tiny stones, has a delicate intricate design and is sterling silver, it is very unlikely to last a lifetime.  Would you be okay sentimentally if your engagement ring had to be replaced? If you are, and many people do just that, then go for it.

inlovewithlibra:  I think it’s stunning for a wedding band.  But if you wear it for your ering, I was just wondering what style wedding band would you choose.

I love this ring and wish more people would go for what they want/like and not let other peoples “conventional” views put doubt in their minds.  I would probably use this as both e/wedding band but there are options if you want two seperate bands.

I chose to wear just 1 ring. Its a litt easier for me because we are eloping next week and no one knows we plan to get married, so an engagement ring isn’t expected. I like the idea of having just one ring.

I think it’s beautiful. I love the idea of just one wide band. It would look nice with a thin seperate band but I actually like it just as is. You have to try it on to make that call.

I like the idea of going to a local jeweler to get it made. I don’t know about the durability of sterling vs gold, but I think you could definitely get better quality stones going that route.

I think it looks beautiful no it may not look like a “traditional” engagement ring but I don’t see why it has to if you and your Fiance love it that’s what matters

ajs248:  ANd you know you ladies may have had great experiences there but doesnt mean everyone else has. I have had several ladies tell me about their horrible times at Zales and Kay ONLY. Never said anything about “Shane Co.”

But when Kays will not clean or inspect my 3500$ engagement ring because DH and I misplaced the paperwork when moving and will not take the time to look me up in the system that pretty unprofessional.

Then when we go and spend 1500$ on two brand new wedding bands and special order them and a month goes by and they still have not come in and Darling Husband and I go up to the store and they tell us the girl that “helped us” has not even submitted the damn order yet and its been a MONTH. Yeah thats unprofessional.

THen i go to my local well known jeweler. He actually draws me out a new wedding band, takes time up with us, special orders it on a Friday in my size and calls me Monday with it ready, perfect size and perfect fit. Thats what i call customer service and professionalism. And will clean and inspect BOTH my rings for free.

Like i said you two may have had great experiences at a big name store but alot of us have not and all i did was tell the OP about it. And she agreed.
