I had a terrible, awful day trying on dresses yesterday. My mom and I went to a few local stores in the city I live in, and they all looked just terrible. I ended up crying at one of the places we were at because everything was so ugly on me. The woman who was helping me kept on pulling dresses 6 sizes too small for me, and she didn’t listen to what I wanted. She would tell me, “Oh this would look so stunning on you!” and I would put it on and it would make me look so…frumpy. She just didn’t get what I wanted. I never wanted to put another wedding dress on again.
But then while we were trying one on, I saw they had an Alfred Angelo dress (I didn’t know at the time. I pointed out that I loved the dress, and she said who the designer was. They didn’t have a sample in my size but told me that there was an Alfred Angelo store about an hour from where we were). I first saw his Disney collection when I was a freshman in college, shortly after Fiance and I met, and I fell in love.
Last night, while my mom was still in town, we decided to drive to Birmingham to try on dresses from Alfred Angelo. I have always said I love his Cinderella dress, but that I like some of his other dresses, too.
Well, Bees, I fell in love with a couple of dresses.
This is the Snow White dress. I love this dress, but I know I am going to have to rearrange some other things in my budget if I get this dress. Snow is just so me, in a way I would have never expected. I felt so pretty in this dress. I love the flowers at the top and how they go delicately down the bottom. I love how the skirt of the dress flows from the boddice to the bottom.
But then there is Cinderella… and she is gorgeous in an elegant way. I adore the beading on the boddice. It’s so sparky, so lovely. The only thing I don’t like about this dress is how it poofs out (I get that Cinderella’s dress did that in the movie, so I understand why). Other than that, I love it. I could tell my (nonexistant) daughter that I was Cinderella on my wedding day.
I’m just debating on what I want to do. It’ll be about $200 more for the Snow White dress, and I know I’ll be happy in the Cinderella… it just wasn’t the dress that made my mom cry. And it wasn’t the dress that made me first feel like a bride… but they are both so pretty.
Which one would you choose?
