Yes, I’m 11 months out and I think I found it! The first store I went into I tried on a whole array of dresses… from trumpets to A-line from lace to satin. I fell most in love with the ball gowns…. and that was exactly what I thought would happen.
At that first store I fell in love with Pronovias’ “Georgia.” Priced at UNDER $1,000 I was in shock. I didn’t think it would be possible. It was a bit too plain though so we were planning on adding an applique to it… With the veil both my dad and I started to cry 🙂 and my mom was in awe as well. And… we could take pictures! Score.
Then, we went to another store the next day. It was so much easier. I knew what I wanted and I had a GREAT contender to compare too. There was one dress that reminded me of “Georgia” so I left it till the end. Every dress I wanted to give a fair chance too but it was like I just had to put it on and I knew… NO. Then I put on a new Allure Exclusive Gown. 8664. The waist came down a little lower than I wanted, but the gown was fabulous! Then, we paired it with a shorter Malis Henderson couture veil which curves under and has lots of body. We were all speachless! So… we left thinking it was the best contender… with no pictures because it “wasn’t allowed.”
Fast forward to today and I went to another store to try on lots of Mori Lee’s I had my eye on. I went with a list with about 15 dresses… including my all time favorite the 4524. The first annoyingly un-organized 15 minutes was spent going through a book and them saying “nope, we don’t have this” to EVERY one! I was so mad. I tried on about 3 but it was like… no… no… no… bye. ugh….
Then we had an appt at the best and ritziest bridal salon in our area. Prices start at $1500 and many designers start at $3-4,000. They were having a sample sale and when we walked in I thought I saw like 20 i liked. But then trying them on… none were me! I did however.. find a Kenneth Pool dress that was 70% off it’s $6,000+ price tag. It was gorgeous! It was a bit short on the top though and I just knew no matter how many alterations were done I couldn’t dance the night away without flashing people at some point… So, I had to say no 🙁 It was almost a perfect fit too!
The 2nd salon was down the street so we popped in real quick. I put the allure on again… and I just don’t see how I can top it! It’s amazing! I L-O-V-E it! I haven’t bought it yet. I need to find shoes and a crinoline first because we’re going to have to add length. But, I have time so now that I found what I want to order I’m going to focus on finding my reception venue! And THAT is going to be hard :0
