so i went to this lovely salon this weekend to try on dresses. they were having a priscilla of boston trunk show, and i had picked out several POB gowns online. it was a wonderful experience, and i think i found my dream dress….it is AMAZING and i definately got the butterflies/goosebumps! my only concern is – my wedding isn’t until sept of ’11. is it too early to get a dress?? my mom is worried that i will change my mind somewhere along the road. i am indecisive by nature, but OMG i cannot stop thinking about this dress!!!! what do i do??

I bought my dress way early (beginning of this month) but I thought long and hard about it. I do not regret my decision one bit, but I felt 100% confident when I made the final decision to buy it. I am a planner type who loves having everything squared away. So I think it’s all about that internal decision! Some people could never imagine buying their dress early, but for others it’s perfect.

I am also a very indecisive person, but I purchased mine November 3, 2009. My wedding is March 31, 2011. I fell in love with it and it was a sample that is being discontinued, so if I didn’t purchase it then, I would have lost out on a very good price and also the dress. You need to decide for yourself and then if you purchase it, stop looking at other gowns, and do not try anymore on.

If you love the dress I say get it…my wedding is July 23rd and I ordered my gown last August! You think thats way ahead of time…it hasnt come in yet (the salon says mid April). Ive been told that it can take anywhere from 3-6 months for the dress to come in…so, I say if you love it..get it. And dont look at other gowns!

that’s something i forgot to include……i was online last night looking back at other dresses i had loved, and some new ones as well. and nothing compared to this one! that made me feel like i could maybe stop looking?

If you love it and think it’s perfect, buy it. Who knows if you’ll be able to get it in a few months, and you’d kick yourself if you had to settle for something that wasn’t ‘the one.’ You’d always think of the one that got away. If you change your mind, you change your mind. You can always sell it on a second-hand website or something. I agree with noritake22, though. If you buy it, stop looking!

I bought my dress one month into my 13 month engagement and really regretted not looking around more. The dress was beautiful but four months out I decided that it was not the dress I wanted to get married in a purchased a second dress. I think I could have saved myself a lot of heartache, stress, money, and tears if I would have waited longer to purchase my gown.

I bought my dress a couple of weeks ago and my wedding is May 2011. I think if you know, you know.

I have worried about this too. I feel like when it’s the one…it’s the one! Same as with our guys. 😉 (Please no one tell my Fiance that I just compared him to a wedding dress…)

We got engaged last easter and at the time had 2 yrs to go and the dress was the first thing I bought a month later! I tried on a million gowns and knew it was the one so we bought it, why wait?!
I say go for it and if you really love it, you won’t change your mind. I did go through a phase where I wondered but as soon as I saw it and tried it on, I knew it was THE ONE and I can’t wait to wear it!
Go for it!

It’s impossible to know for sure whether you will find another dress that you like as much or more than this dress, BUT, I do think that it is best to wait because I think it is very common for your tastes in a dress to change the closer you get to the wedding and the more dresses you see. Designers will come out with several more lines of dresses before you get married, and your options will be even greater if you wait.

Go ahead and get it, as long as you’re sure your weight won’t change too much before the wedding. Definitely wait until closer to the wedding to do any alterations on it though, just in case.

I felt the same way (wedding Aug 2010 and bought July 2009) when I was looking for my dress. I went to at least 6 different bridal salons to find my perfect dress and I did find it at the 2nd one. I kept looking just in case and actually went back 4 times just to try THE ONE on. If its in your head and nothing else compares…BUY IT! I see gorgeous dresses all of the time that just dont “fit” me or my personality but are amazing to look at. all the other bees are right….it more than likely will be discontinued within a short time, so if you got the goosebumps and all that fun stuff…it was made for you 🙂

It’s way too early…I bought mine 10 months early and ended up with another dress….do NOT buy and put yourself through dress regret….

If I were you, I may consider waiting because your wedding is little far away. There’s a possibility you might see another dress that you might like and have dress regret.
