I’ve been a bit of a lurker, but until now everything’s been running smoothly, and I’ve been busy so I haven’t posted. Everything’s been running smoothly…until now. I went to my fitting last night, and my Future Mother-In-Law just sent pictures around, and I think I hate my dress, or at least the way it looks on me. I feel like it’s terribly unflattering in the pictures – when I looked at them I felt sick. There’s 1 month until the big day, and I just don’t know what to do…anyone have some advice for me? My mom says it just doesn’t fit yet (it was a little big) and when it does it will look better. I don’t know – I feel fat and unattractive. I don’t want to feel like that on my wedding day!
Thanks – sorry my first post is such a downer. 🙁

I’m sorry you’re feeling bad about your dress, Miss Movie. Do you have any photos you can share with us? We definitely wouldn’t be critical, but it might be helpful to see what you’re working with.
FWIW, I cried when my dress came in because I wasn’t sure I liked it anymore. It was 2.5 sizes too big and I just couldn’t see how it was going to look when it was fitted. As the alterations took place, I started to recognize the dress I loved and was happy with it again. Do you think it’s possible that your mom is right–once you get it altered, you’ll like it more?

I think you look beautiful! Your fears will mostly likely disappear when it is altered to fit you. But I think it is a gorgeous dress and will be very flattering on you!

I think it’s gorgeous & it looks beautiful on you! If you’re not comfortable in it, maybe you can take it back to your seamstress and get them to adjust the areas you’re not uneasy with.

Thanks so much – you guys are sweet. I guess you wouldn’t say “You’re right, you look like a cow!” huh?
I’m always a self-conscious person, and I’ve lost about 25 pounds in the run up to the wedding, but now I’m feeling like I should have doubled that! Ugh, I don’t know – I think I’m feeling like I should have gotten something a little more flattering. I can’t believe how crazy I feel – our planning has been really drama-free, and now this!
I am thinking about going back to my tailor – she’s awesome – and seeing if she can do anything!

Wow, I don’t think you look chubby at all. If anything, I think the dress is actually really figure flattering! I think you look gorgeous!
Honestly, I think that if you tweak the tailoring a little, it will be perfect on you. From the photo, it looks like it has to come in just a touch at the top (around your bust-above the line of beading). I think this dress (and you in it!) is a knock-out! 🙂

MissMovie, that dress is gorgeous on you (and I wouldn’t have even responded if I didn’t think so). I think that it definitely needs some alterations to make it fit more to your body, but it’s truly a stunning dress, and I think that style is very flattering on you.
Seamstresses are wonderful people. I would just go back to the person with your concerns, and see what she can to make you feel better.
Congratulations on losing 25 pounds! That’s quite an accomplishment!

I love your dress! And I think you’ll feel much better once it’s altered to fit you.

Awww, don’t worry, I think it’s only natural to want to look your absolute best on your wedding day!
That being said, I think you most definitely will be beautiful on your day, the dress looks very flattering. To you it probably looks like you’re bigger in the dress because the dress is still a little too big! I also think you’ll feel much better once it’s tailored.

I think it’s beautiful on you! Do you think it’s just pre-wedding jitters making you feel this way?

I don’t know if it’s just all the stress, or that I picure myself thinner, so when I see pictures I kind of freak? I’m not at all worried about the marriage part – that I’m sure of! I haven’t had a freak out yet, so maybe this is mine? I have to say, you guys really are helping me to feel better! Isn’t it crazy that you can call your mom and your sister, and a group of people you don’t know are more helpful???

Wow i love this dress on you! i think it’s fantastic. If it’s your weight you’re self-conscious about, you’ve still got time to work on it if you choose to do so. You could do some toning over the next month. And I echo that having the dress fit correctly will make a world of difference, though! I think it’s really flattering!

I totally have to agree with everyone else that the dress is PERFECT for you! It is very flattering and you look like you have an amazing figure! It is normal to feel self-consious, but really, you look stunning!!!!

I actually love love love your dress. Mine is very similar with an empire waist. I’ll be wearing the Wtoo Marquarite. The dress is not form fitting so maybe that is why you are feeling this way about how you look. I know I might feel the same way when mine comes in… but seriously… push your feelings aside because girl you look fabulous in that dress. It is so romantic and flowey. Your future husband is going to love it.
