I like the skirt, but it bothers me that the bodice color isn’t closer to the color of the skirt and is crocheted/see-through. Some things to consider:

1) Personally, I’d get it fully lined in front. The cups they have just are not doing it. To have your ta-tas on display at your wedding is not very classy. Definitely do not wear it as a crop top.

2) Since you’re 5’1 the skirt will most likely swallow you. You state you’d wear high heels, but if you’re getting married outside on a vineyard lawn, high heels are not ideal. You’d want to consider taking out some of the volume, which might very well change the silhouette of the dress.

3) This might sound bad, but I honestly don’t think it’d look good on someone who isn’t model skinny. This dress may very well be one of those “better suited for the runway” dresses.

It’s worth a shot trying it on. I remember there were dresses I loved, but when I tried them they looked awful. There were also dresses I never would have considered that looked fabulous. Don’t get into the mindset that “this is the dress!!!” because you might be disappointed.

@crisy003:  The Blush dress is gorgeous, but it’s not a patch on the first one! Come on – I really want to see it on you!

Have you gotten to try your dress on yet?? I’m dying to see it!

To be honest, I don’t think the second dress you posted holds a candle to the first one. The first dress is WOW, the second one is nice but we’ve all seen it before.

Hello bees! I also fell in love with the Dori gown the second I laid my eyes on it. Just tried it on today and although it is a BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE gown. It’s definitely not for every body type. I’m 5’4, 130lbs, curvy/athletic body, but my torso is not very long i guess, or at least that’s how it appears with this particular gown. For those of you wondering, the top is not see thru at all. Unfortunately, this gown is no longer my front runner 🙁

Hayley Paige is my very favorite designer, and this dress is fantastic! She has others with the same kind of skirt, so those might be options if the top doesn’t work out. (Even if they normally come in white, they might be able to do one in the purple silvery color.)

My frontrunner, that I haven’t tried on yet, is a Blush dress that she designed.

It’s really beautiful and fashion forward. I haven’t seen anything like that before.  Would you mind sharing the cost with us?

This is my “second pick” dress (the first is a Paolo Sebastian)! I’m hoping I can find it to try on in Canada. A Kleinfeld just opened in Toronto so fingers crossed! I do agree with the previous posters that were saying this dress might be best suited for a specific body type…. That’s why it’s my second choice because I’m not sure my torso is long enough to pull it off (I’m 5′ 5″ and 110lbs). That being said, I’m in the camp of if you love it on you then that’s all that matters! Plenty shorter brides have pulled off ball gowns without looking overwhelmed in them. In this case I feel like the contrast between the top and bottom will work in your favour! Good luck and post pics!
