I second the suggestion to open a new bag and transfer each piece of trash to the new bag as opposed to rummaging through the existing one.

Has anybody been in your house that coul have taken interest with the ring? I mean, if you are abso positive about placing it on top of the microwave, then my only conclusion is someone could have stolen it. Though, i really hope not. Hope you find it.

emmmmru:   Look with a flashlight – the ring may catch the light so you can see it better.  Fingers crossed you find it.

put the cats away and rip that house apart piece by piece. Put on gloves and setup another garbage bag and go through it again piece by piece! move the microwave, look under all the appliances [one of the cats could have swatted it somewhere] good luck!

Something very similar happened  to me a few weeks ago. I set my ring down while getting ready and when I came back it was nowhere in sight. What happened  was my Fiance must have knocked it from its resting place while cleaning up. I found it 2 hours later when i had just given up. I agree with the PP leave no stone unturned. When you find it i recommend this diy ring holder.

I want to add that it’s probably best to tell him I’m he will understand and probably  pull out the gloves and help. Good luck I hope you find it.

Oh crap, I’m sorry to hear this. I second the advice to check with a flashlight, at night in the dark. The cats may have knocked it under the refrigerator, oven, etc. I lost a ring once and found it in the garbage. I had to transfer each piece of garbage one by one into another bag. Run out and get some disposable gloves. Is it possible that it could be in the U bend of your sink? It’s another place to try, it is pretty simple to take it apart.

Good luck!

You poor thing! I’d be frantic, too!  Maybe the cat knocked it off?  Check behind the microwave, under the bottom cabinets, and even other rooms like the bathroom, in case you left it there after washing up. Keep us posted and I pray you find it. ❤ and hugs!

emmmmru:  if one of your cats have found it they’ve probably had a play and it’s slid under something or behind something until they can’t reach it. Say under the fridge/dishwasher, into a little nook. I’m sure it’ll be in the kitchen, try looking in nooks and crannys. Maybe the microwave was bumped and your ring fell down. Look for other obvious or convenient places you would have put it at the time. Go over all your steps in the kitchen and move of all, good luck!

emmmmru:  Oh no! Get a tarp or big piece of plastic and dump the whole bag of trash out onto it. It will be yucky and stinky, but it will at least let you be at peace whether or not it is in there. Then you can rest assured that is 99% most likely still in the house.

Good luck, and take deep breaths. Rings are material, love is forever.

Everytime I lose something, which is weekly, I have to stop looking for it for a while. Hours or a day. I think a person gets so frantic searching that they overlook things. Start fresh and calm today, it’ll show and probably in the most stupid spot!! hugs!

Not that it helps your current situation, but I would get a ring holder for the kitchen.

I have a little elephant on top of the extractor fan (it has a little glass legde all around it) and my ring goes on the trunk if I don’t want it on when cooking.

Icky or not, I’d be going through the bin. As PP have said, take each item from one bag and place it in another. Mouldy food is gross, sure, but I would rather have the peace of mind.

I lost a necklace by dropping it in the bin and felt so guilty I bought it again (the original was a gift). Had I realised it had fallen in the bin before it had been taken out, I’d have been straight in there!

Oh geez, I’m hoping for a happy update here OP. Definitely transfer your garbage bag to another piece by piece, and bust out the flashlight to maybe catch some sparkle. This is horrible, I really hope you find it!!

OP–when you do find it {and I KNOW you will!}, designate a spot in each room for your jewelry.  I have a spot in my kitchen, bath, TV room and living room. And I keep a small china box right next to my bed.  So if I happen to take it off for a particular reason, I always know where I put it.
