- Wedding: April 2012
as fellow diy’ers, you know how much time and effort go into each of our projects. here’s my dilema:
i am making tissue pomanders for my wedding. a lot of them. we are getting married back in ontario so i have been folding all of the ‘fan-like’ flowers (100’s of them) and plan on opening them and fluffing them when i get to ontario.
my dad / stepmom were here visiting in feb and so i got them to take 3 large envelopes of folded flowers back home. i wrote on each envelope how many and what size they were. i am very particular and made sure that they were all folded flat, lined up in the envelope so they wouldn’t get damaged or crushed. they will still hold their shape.
i am still folding flowers (need a lot) and wanted to confirm my total count so i left a message with my stepmom to let me know how many flowers she was holding for me and what size. she called me back and said 200 in both envelopes. i was a bit confused because i know i gave her more than 400 and pretty sure i gave her 3 envelopes. how many small ones? i left another message and said i need to know how many of which size. BIG mistake. she took it upon herself to open 2 sealed enveloped and dump them out to check the sizes and count them. OMG! it says the # and size on the envelope. when i talked to her last night and she told me this i almost blew up. why would she unpackage them?? i know for a fact that she is careless. she’s nice but very careless. when i asked her if she folded them back up before putting them back into the envelopes she didn’t sound convincing and only said that they were mainly still folded anyways. i can only imagine how she would have jammed 400 tissue flowers into these envelopes. they will only fit by folding them and laying them flat like i did. i am terrified to open these packages when i get there. i will friggin’ just scream. and i did tell her that there was a 3rd envelope with smaller flowers. she found it and realized that # & size were written as i said on the envelopes.
i am hopeful that she sensed my “concern” (to put it lightly) about the storage condition of the flowers and realize that they are delicate. if not, i will have to re-fold 400 tissue flowers. we come home a week before the wedding and will be extremely busy. i will not have time for this. i am so worried. should i have her repackage all of the flowers so that they are flat again? i don’t want this over my head for the next 3 weeks til i open the envelope.
