I think I throw up way more often than a normal person, and it's weird.

i don’t think you’re a nut case. My body went through something similar about a year ago. I was put on super strong antibiotics and found I was allergic to them. Since that incident, which nearly destroyed my stomach, I’ve found I throw up on average of at least a few times per month. No stomach flu, not really related to anything I eat. I just feel the need to do it and randomly wake up at night feeling uber sick to my stomach.

I’ve tried everything and it’s gotten better, but I admit sometimes I think I’ll never be able to eat cooked tomato or drink more than one shot again. 🙁

I’m with you though, I don’t hate it but it’s certainly not pleasant. My doctor is aware and thinks my body may go back to normal in time.

I thought you were going to describe cyclic vomiting syndrome, but it sounds like you pretty much know what causes it/when it’s going to happen?

Inducing vomiting is really unhealthy.  This is a bad pattern to be in.

Some of the issues you could have if you continue to vomit at will:

Chronic gastric reflux
Dehydration and hypokalemia
Electrolyte imbalance, which can lead to cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, and even death
Esophagitis
Oral trauma, in which repetitive insertion of fingers or other objects causes lacerations to the lining of the mouth or throat
Gastroparesis
Constipation
Infertility
Enlarged glands in the neck, under the jaw line
Peptic ulcers
Calluses or scars on back of hands due to repeated trauma from your teeth
Constant weight fluctuations
The frequent contact between teeth and gastric acid, in particular, may cause:
Severe dental erosion
Perimolysis
Swollen salivary glands

Drinking alcohol and throwing up go hand in hand for me nowadays. My husband is convinced it is psychological, and sometimes I wonder if it is too.  If I have more than 2 or 3 drinks and am nauseous it is just something that I feel like I have to do.  It probably doesn’t help in the long run because I’m sure it dehydrates me.

How often do you throw up though?  Like once a day, once a week?  I don’t know if this is dangerous or not.  At a minimum, you might be eroding your tooth enamel.

Anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is bragging he hasn’t thrown up since 1983?

@iarebridezilla:   “filling myself with things that make me puke, then puking and going back for more”

This is called binging and purging and it is a sign of an eating disorder.

My first thought is- doesn’t the acids from your stomach wreak havoc on your throat and mouth? It erodes your teeth too.

I can’t even imagine.  I’m definitely one of those people who absolutely hates puking. I cry after I do so.  Have you seen a doctor regarding this?  It sounds very unhealthy to me.  Your body isn’t absorbing correct nutrients either.

I get that you like crab but if your body is telling you that something is wrong with it, listen to your body! Why would eat something that you know will make you sick? I’m sorry, but your behaviour is not normal. You should see a doctor.

Wait-i’m a little confused- you throw up 2-3 times per month? Your OP sounded like it was a daily thing.
