I for one don’t think throwing up 2x a month is all that odd. I have an extremely sensitive stomach so if I eat anything that’s just a little too sweet or a little too greasy, or god forbid I eat 2 onion rings instead of one I’ll get sick. I can either writhe around in pain for 8 hours trying not to puke or I can suck it up and get it over with because as soon as it comes out I feel a thousand times better. I still hate barfing though. Ew.

Just to share a lighthearted, “I vomit too much” kind of story. My roommate in college had the kind of stomach that was tied very closely too his emotions. If he got really upset about a breakup, he puked. Really happy, puke. Excited? Puke.
My favorite story was when he went to Universal Studios (as an 18 year old) with some friends. They were all really excited to ride one of the new rides that came out and as soon as they got past the ticket booth, they took off and started running toward the ride. The excitement took over and my roommate, knowing he was going to throwup but not wanting to stop and waste time getting to the ride, just turned his head to the side and let it all come out WHILE he was still running. Gross! What an idiot!
So yeah, sometimes healthy people do throwup often enough that they just kind of adapt to it. Glad to hear you’re getting to a doctor, though.

I have emetophobia as well, since childhood (I’m 29). I pretty much have all the same issues that you described. Im more scared of doing it myself. I got the flu and did it once last year. Before that, it had been almost five years, and before that, like fourteen. Wow, This became a pretty intense thread.
OP, I was always nauseated and dry heaving a few times a week for the past year and wasn’t sure if it was anxiety, gerd, or IBS. It was awful. Im managing those issues now, thankfully. My Fiance is also in the camp of better out than in, but he knows not to throw up around me and respects my reaction to run away and hide if he ever does.

Oh my stomach also really acts up when I’m stressed out too, and I’ll quite often throw up without even trying to ‘help things along’. I’ms so glad we have individual bathrooms at work because that seems to be where it happens the most with the stress related. I can’t imagine what people would think if they heard me throwing up all the time!

OP: I totally know what you mean! I don’t throw up that often, but sometimes when I’m sick, I do it because it makes me feel SO much better.

I totally am on the same page as you. It’s gotten to the point that I yak up every day sometimes I can go 2 days. That’s a rare thing anymore. In fact I just threw up 10 minutes ago… I’ve gotten so used to it too. I kinda have gotten over it. I have no idea why I throw up so much and my doctor doesnt know either. On a side note throwing up something cold is crazy. I just did it the other day. I drank too much pop and threw it up and it was ice cold still. That was a new experience.
