I had one from starsgem and that’s who I’d recommend simply because they’re cheaper. Tiyanu doesn’t look that different to me and the price she quotes these days is a big no from me. Mine never had a nail head and if it did, I was unbothered. I sold this one but am looking to get another slightly bigger.

This was mine. 8mm next to my mom’s 8mm loose antique cushion.

I just got an OEC from Moissanite co. It is beautiful – but – while some said they thought an OEC threw off fewer rainbows – I think it actually throws off more. I have a forever one H&A travel ring and it looks more diamond like than the OEC in my opinion.

Hi! I have had quite a few oec moissanites. I love them! I have never tried the Chinese vendor’s oecs, but I found my prettiest ones have been from August Vintage and Moissaniteco. I cannot recommend August Vintage’s cut highly enough. It’s by far my fave and I am hoarding another one now too! Good luck!

I think there are several good options that have been suggested.  If you want top quality then August Vintage is definitely the way to go.  I have also seen some wonky ones cut by Love Affair Diamonds that have been on sale for awhile. The cuts look ‘off’ on purpose just like how natural OEC diamonds were because they used to be handcut by candlelight. I think Harro is also doing a version that can be purchased through Debebian’s.

If you were trying to keep it cheap, then Starsgem or Tianyu are good options.  There isn’t a huge difference between the two but it depends on the style you prefer.  I found the petals on the Starsgem one to be a bit fatter with a smaller culet. The one from Tianyu had thinner petals more like a daisy.  It just depends on what your preference is. They will look a bit different in each lighting situation.  If you have something particular in mind, I would suggest getting some inspiration pic’s and asking them a quote to cut one for you. This is what I did every time and I think the price added to the cost of the stone was typically $20-$30, but I felt it was worth it to get exactly what I wanted and with no surprises.  Below is the one I bought from Tianyu and was 10mm. The office lighting makes it sparkle like crazy but it is a bit more subdued in person.  Can go a little flat in outdoor light but overall I was pretty happy with the stone.

This pic is from one of the bee’s that bought A wonky LAD moissanite and it was compared to the Tianyu version.  You can see how they look pretty different.

I understand exactly what you’re saying! I loved OEC and wasn’t sure where to get one. In the process, I figured out I liked the chunkier cut of vintage cushions. So I have a three stone from August Vintage. Center stone is vintage cushion and two sides are vintage round cuts. I adore it.

I encourage people to buy within their comfort level, I am so glad I went with AV but I know the price jump compared to offshore vendors is a lot. AV’s rounds have a beautifyl petal-effect and really sparkle! I think Tiyanu is closest to an AVR and if you like that, you may want to spring for an AV in the future if you still want that. I personally prefer the chunky vintage cuts but I know it’s not for everyone. Good luck!

sparklebee19 :  Absolutely gorgeous!!!! I adore three stones anyway, but the antique cuts are just over the top amazing. I’d love to have something similar one day!
