It sounds like you need a resistance training program (weights). You can start small using your body weight at home; push-ups, chair dips, lunges, squats, planks (etc) & once you can confidently do those increase the variety & weight.

@Eckle:  Pilates! It’ll help correct muscle imbalances that result in things like herniated discs. Plus, it’s low impact so you won’t sweat tons. It’s also effective because you’re working the deep hard to reach muscles. Try reformer first. Where in MN are ya?

ps- clicked on this bcs I’m just home after my workout and feel like I’m gonna hurl.

Mastering Your Body Weight

You can get a full body workout at home using nothing buy yourself!

Honestly though, no one at the gym cares what you look like. Most are too busy either looking at themselves in the mirror or worrying that other people are looking at them.

But if you are really that uncomfortable going to a gym then take a look at the link above and workout at home!!

I break out in a rash too. I just keep going. All excuses ever did for me was help me continue an unhealthy lifestyle. Since I’ve pushed through feeling awkward I have lost 5 dress sizes so it is worth it. I even added a new Yoga class to my routine today.

As for the whistle…I have no advice sorry. But if its any consilation I have trouble breathing sometimes thanks to scar tissue in my lungs from pneumonia and pleuresy from years ago. Its not consistent so again I just push through or if I need to modify/slow down or whatever I just do that until I feel I can continue. Its all you can do. Listen to your body and make the changes needed at the time.
