What? This thread has no pictures of the puppy??! Lol!

I think this is totally normal behavior when you get a new puppy.  They’re just so cute!

It’s totally normal to be obsessed with your pup. Just make sure you use your time with her to start her training and not just spoil her.

What kind of dog is she? At 9 weeks she should probably be kept inside most of the time a puppies left in yards are prime targets for thieves and prey animals. Also, you need to make, sure she’s had all her shots so she doesn’t pick up any nasty diseases (like parvo) which can live in the ground for long periods of time.

Also, you can’t post a thread about your puppy and not post her picture!

Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal.  My puppy is seven months old, and we’re still obsessed over her.  It’s just like having a toddler, but with four legs, lol.

My ‘puppy’ is 19 months and I am still obsessed with him. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of him. I love him to bits, even when he’s finished chewing up my third pair of brand new shoes I can’t stay angry for long.

I love him sooooo much, I don’t know what I’ll be like when I have a human child haha!

I’m obsessed with my stuffed animal dogs!  I swear I could sit there and squeeze them all day.. You sound like how I’m going to be when I get my puppy, which will be in the summer when I’m off.  Smile

Just saw you are in Australia, not sure how prevalent parvo is there, so just go with what your vet says. As for prey animals, things like wild dogs or largs birds can sometimes go after puppies. If shes in a covered area during the day it should be ok though.

Can’t wait for pics. What’s her name?

Congratulations on your new puppy!

Just chimed in to agree with PP. Please please please watch out for Parvo. It’s the season right now. Our puppy got it when we only had him for two days. He was in the vet for an entire week and it was gut wrenching. He survived, thank god, but it was the worst week I’ve ever had.

Keep the little guy away from all other dogs, and don’t take him anywhere. Even for a while after the vaccinations. It can survive in soil/grass for up to seven years apparently! Just with a little one too – anything that seems odd, get them to the vet immediately. That’s the only reason our little guy survived. That and brilliant vetrinary care.

Absolutely not meaning to scare monger – it’s just something I had NEVER heard of before, and I wish somebody had told me! Good luck with your new family member!

@KellyLouise:  I think it’s always better to be over protective at first! Just look out for any odd vomiting or dioreah. And listlessness too, that’s a big one.

Do you have a vet that you love? I think that’s really important. I love ours because I know they tell me the truth, and are always willing to take calls and answer questions. I know that they are only going to tell me to come in when it’s necessary, and not just to make money.

Your little girl is gorgeous!! What a beautiful coat.
