I know how worrysome it can be if you think something if “off” with your pet. Animals get sick too just like people, and its probably an innocent cold or nothing at all. Hope all turns out well!!

I have two cats, so I know the stress of knowing ‘something isn’t right’!

Just like humans, cats can get colds, the flu, tummy aches and even migraines. You are doing the right thing by taking her to the vet. Keep telling yourself the odds are in your favour. It’s going to be ok *hug*

Aw, she might just be fine! It is not necessarily doom and gloom!

Sometimes mine gets in a funk like this if she has a hairball or her tummy is upset (just like people…for the upset tummy, not the hairball!). I get stressed out about it EVERY SINGLE TIME, and if it does not clear up in 12-24 hours am with her at the vet as it is a flag if a cat goes 24 hours without food, but eventually she hacks up a hairball or whatever is in her tummy passes through, and she is back to gobbling her dinner up like I am going to steal it away. Usually after I spent the money at the vet, of course!

Your kitty is getting older, so it is not uncommon she might have a more sensitive tummy and so on. Some “off food”, just an ingredient she is sensitive too, just ate too much or too little. Again, like people! As others pointed out, colds and so on are also possibilities. Cats tend to get pretty funky when they feel off. They don’t have anyway of communicating illness or discomfort excepting becoming mopey and sending their owners into a panic.

You did the right thing to take her to the vet, though!

Good luck to both you and kitty 🙂

My sweet Gabrielle got sick last year. She was living with my mom at the time. Mama said that Gabrielle’s wouldn’t eat and just layes around the house. I told her to take her to the vet. She ended up having a virus!!! She was hospitalized for four days then sent home where she recovered. I was so worried she would die, but the vet reassured me she just had a virus and would be fine!

After some chicken broth to kickstart her appetite, she was fine! Here’s my Gabrielle!! Good luck to you both!! Keep us posted!

whoswho :  Glad you got her to the vet and got her some meds!  That happened to my cat last year – same sudden lethargy etc, and I was freaking out – and with meds, she was basically all better the next day.  Hope your little girl feels better quickly.

whoswho :  Having a sick pet is so scary! Glad that it seems like you caught it in time! Get better girly!

I was totally freaking out one day when my dog had been throwing up (dry heaving) during the night. I took him to the vet first thing in the morning and he starting peeing blood and having diarrhea. It was so scary. They did a million tests and the only thing they could find was a UTI. Antibiotics and pedialite and he was better within the day.

So glad it’s not anything too serious and that she’s being treated!
