Your wedding day is one day that you have permission to be completely over-the-top.  You bought the dress because you loved it.  It’s a gorgeous dress!  Rock it and enjoy it.  It’s only one day!!!

ETA: I didn’t see the picture of you in the dress before I posted.  You look beautiful in it. I don’t think you have anything to be stressed out about. You made a lovely choice in gowns.

@Adams_bee:  You know what… I kind of like that first dress you posted. It’s different than any I’ve seen before.

@Amasmash:  Sounds good. Are you feeling abit happier / more confident with your choice now?

I guarantee, on your wedding day, everyone’s going to compliment you and the look on your fiance’s face when he sees you all dolled up in a white dress… You won’t even remember you had this much doubt! I went through the same kind of hmm am I going to look stupid, is my dress hideous stage. It’s absolutely normal.

Key thing is – you loved your dress when you tried it on, that’s why you bought it. Just remember that.

I too feel like I bought a dress that may be a little too fancy for my venue/budget.  And I am normally a simple person as well – no make up, jeans, ponytail, etc.  However, this is why I am telling myself my dress is ok.

1) It’s once in a lifetime.  I want to stand out, I want to be a barbie doll, I want to wear something that I will never wear again.  I looked at wedding dresses that were a simple A-line style, and it just wasn’t impactive enough. I want to shout it out that this is *MY* wedding day!  I am paying a LOT of money ONE time and I want to be the star.

2) I am going to wear my hair down/wavy…I think it will tone down the formality a bit.

3) It doesn’t matter.  Everyone is going to oooh and ahhh and say how beautiful I am…no one is going to say “isn’t she overdressed?”

I don’t think it’s over the top! If you’re still questioning it though, can you order the beading/embroidery in white instead of silver? Maybe it will blend in more with the cloth and won’t look so bedazzled.

Anyway,I think that if you love the dress, you should go for it. Your wedding is a one-time thing, and my take is that it should be special to you! Don’t go for plain unless that is your style!

I think it can be tough for a girl who’s usually simply dressed to get comfortable with a big, fancy dress, but that doesn’t mean you won’t look amazing. I think it’s a great dress, and doesn’t require any accessories besides small earrings. Skip the necklace. Wear your hair in a simple style. And shine. You loved it when you got it – you’ll love it again. I think this is less about the dress itself and more about getting ready to be the center of attention. But trust me, you’ll remember on the day why you loved it. So, it’s fancy. It’s supposed to be!
