Ok, well I bought my dress 8 months ago and I’ve lost about 20 lbs since then. I know it was stupid to buy a dress early. But I had already lost 20 lbs, so I didnt think I was going to really lose that much more.
So, lost 20lbs, bought dress, then lost 20 more lbs. Well I was talking to my mom the other day about how happy I am to be getting close to my goal weight (What I weighed in high school) and she pretty much told me to stop losing weight, and that maybe I should put a some back on?!?
To clarify I’m not a tiny person, but I’m not huge either. I was overweight for the past two years, and I’ve finally returned to be in the normal range of BMI (On the higher side, but normal none the less) So it’s definitely not an issue of being underweight.
I think she is saying this because she paid for my dress and also told me she would pay for the alterations. I can’t figure out why she wouldn’t be happy for me in acheiving my weight loss goals. Is she trying to keep me fat so alterations will be cheaper?

I think you are reading too much into this. She’s your mother and probably just wants you to be healthy–not “fat,” but not stick-thin, either. Can you pay for the alterations yourself? She’s probably being mindful of money–alterations are not cheap! But none of this means she wants you to be fat.

Idk, my mom told me to be careful about losing too much weight, and I don’t think she was trying to sabotage me. Dresses can be taken in, but some styles won’t look as good if they have to be taken in too much. I doubt she’s trying to pork you up out of selfish reasons.

She might just be afraid that you wont fit in your dress after you get your alterations. What if you keep losing weight and you don’t have time for anymore alterations. When is your first alteration due, in December? Is it possible that she is jealous of your weight loss? Is she overweight too? I think that it is great that you lost all that weight and you should be proud of yourself. I bet your mom is proud too even if she does not act like it.
