I only mentioned that word for the first time the other day after visiting his grandparents, in the car on the way home he said: I’d really like nan and pop to see us get married! Which in turn led me to ask ok so what sort of time frame are you thinking?? And he was like woah I don’t want to talk about that yet! So I said well don’t bloody mention marriage in the first place!

Lol! SO hates that I want a timeline. Me saying I wanted a timeline ie. sometime this year. In his head, me asking for a timeline = day/ time/ how he’s gonna do it. I’m NOOOOOOOO THAT’S NOT WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR!

@memo: This!!
My boyfriend went with “It’ll be in the near future” but then a few breaths later “But not soon” WHAT?!
I know this boy is serious about marrying me and I know the ring will come but gosh darnit can’t I get a hint!?

@RosieLou:
I was soooo here. EXACTLY what memo said, he thought me asking for a timeline would “lock him in” to something, and he won’t even make dinner plans for teh weekend if there’s like a one percent chance he can’t do it…
BUT- first time we had a marriage talk was about four months ago (the whole “I CAN’T GIVE A TIMELINE!!!” thing) and now, just a few days ago, he finally gave me a timeline (which was shorter than I was expecting.
I think men just need time to get used to it and I think they’re stubborn and they want it to be THEIR IDEA, not something you “got them” to do.
Hang in there!!!! xo

My SO was anti-timeline at first too, but I pretty much told him that if he wanted to do a traditional proposal (as in one that surprised me) he was going to have to give me a timeline so that I knew I wasn’t being strung along. It seemed only fair! That was a long time ago though. He gave me a timeline around this time last year for anytime in 2013.

@GirlWithTheGlassSlippers: haha funny, as soon as I ‘shut it up’ he starts to talk about it ๐ we’ve been together 3 years now and I know he wants it too, I would just love a rough timeline so I don’t get my hopes up if its going to be a while away!!
