Omg! What a jerk!
I had a similar situation… Before i was engaged..My promise ring is from Kay’s the lady who had to clean and inspect it said “do you want to upgrade your ring? This ring is so small and ugly.” we were so angry!!!!

Another way of looking at is is, what if it was fake anyway? what had it got to do with him? you were taking it for cleaning not an appraisal!

wow, what a jerk! so far my experiences at Kay has been great (except for the part where they are always trying to push you into another purchase… but that’s to be expected).

i personally dont like Kays. they are WAY WAY WAY ot pushy in my opinion. we were at the mall and i was just looking to see what they had for mens rings for Fiance and they started szing up my ring! they were commenting how the band was so thin and i should have it replaced and all that stuff. my response was “well it was my great grandmothers ring and she never took it for for 65 years so i would expect there to be some effects of that.” and just left. as far as big chain stores fo i much prefer harrir richies. they are way nicer and a lot less pushy

Wow, I think that’s even worse. O__o

They were obviously trying to get a sale… little do they know that I refused to ever shop there again because of it.

I agree. Some of the Kay’s salespersons are like vultures. I’ve also had this happen to me.

That is so rude!!! Pretty much anywhere will clean a ring for free. Mine is from Blue Nile and Zales is super friendly when I go for cleanings! Depends on which one though-I have a favorite location. Im so sorry to hear that!!

Thank you Bees! Good to know we were not just being too sensitive.:)
The kays that we go to my parents have been going too for 28 years, and my FI has been going there for 3 years so most of the older staff know who we are more or less… its olny the newer people that we ever have issue with.
I still might call the manager, we’ll see what happens next time we go in for a cleaning.

I HATE going in Kay’s. Ugh! I don’t think I’ve ever once had a good experience there. The sales people are rude and pushy. I went in not too long ago to look for wedding bands. The salesperson was hounding me about getting a Kay’s card when I hadn’t even found a ring I liked yet…. Wtf.
They effectively run me out of the store within 45 seconds EVERY TIME. lol.
