What do you think? Is this too much? This is our cake topper (our last name changed), and I made the pearls and the flowers the colors I want them…Advice?
A family friend is making the cake, so I want to keep it pretty simple for her. I’m buying the pre-made sugar pearls for her to use. I am not committed to the flower.

I love it! Doesn’t look like too much. You’d be fine without the flowers for sure, but I don’t think it takes it over the top especially since the rest of the cake is neutral.

I think it would look much better without the flower… Its just sort of there…

Yeah, no flower, unless you go ivory or gold with it. I love the cascading effect… nice choice!

Agreed, all. I wasn’t sure if the flower was too much or not. Do you guys think I can do anything to incorporate some teal in here somewhere? Maybe changing the banner color at the top of the cake?

i think its a nice cake and the flower’s a bit…awkward

I would change the banner color, and the flower color. Or just remove the flower and leave the banner as is. Cute cake!

I don’t like the flower, but the rest is pretty.

Maybe a teal cake stand? Or maybe the lettering in the banner can be teal? Personally, I’d keep teal subtle on food.

I agree with PPs about the flower. It’s a bit too much. I think the banner would look nice in teal.

I love the pearls, and if you decide on the flower, it will look better in gold to match the pearls.

I would say ditch the flower. If you want to add teal, think about the banne or even the lettering. Maybe you could get some teal pearls to either do the middle layer or mix a few in subtlly with the gold or do a teal to gold ombre effect (may be too complicated).
somthing to this effect…http://nish-whips-up-a-dish.blogspot.de/2012/04/blueberry-jam-butter-cake-with.html
