I honestly feel sort of embarrassed by this, since I’m virulently anti-sun (ok, I’m probably way more paranoid than most, but part of it is also because I hate being in the sun–I get hot and gross and get really crabby). So yeah, for me to go into a tanning salon (albeit for sunless tanning) was kind of weird.
I did the lightest level and I haven’t turned orange–just a very very light bit of color. Next time I’ll go for the medium level. I also forgot to put on the barrier cream on my hands and feet, but after I was done, I went and scrubbed my hands. So far, they aren’t orange.
One thing–for people who have asthma, be forewarned. The machine sprays a very fine mist on you, and you can’t help but inhale some. It gets into your lungs and makes you feel kind of crappy, if you are sensitive to that sort of thing. After I got out of the booth, I saw the FDA warning sign, saying that the chemicals sprayed on you can be bad for you, so you should wear eye protection, something on your lips (like balm), nose plugs, and underwear so as to minimize the amount that is breathed in and absorbed into mucous membranes. Whoops.
