So what things have you underestimated when wedding planning?
I just ran into a big one – I am painting an aisle runner with our names and a scroll design. Traced it all out, started painting… oh my gosh, this is going to take forever.
The paint also looks darker on the fabric than it did in the bottle. Whatever. I’m not going to stress about that one.
I see why they are so expensive now.

I totally underestimated the cost of flowers. I have more than tripled my budget AND I’m not even going for anything close to a lush and grand look.
I underestimated the amount of patience it takes to deal with such a large bridal party. We have 12 attendants and each and every one of them seem to be procratinators and uber picky about our choices.
I underestimated the amount of “prestige” that is associated with a wedding in our circle. I have made so many changes to please other people that I feel like I am going to pop.
I underestimated the amount of time it was going to take me to add crystals to my wedding invitations. I have literally been working on them for 3 days.
I underestimated the extreme amount of patience a bride must have.
I pretty much underestimate lots of things when it comes to wedding planning. I have only been to 1 as an adult and none of my friends or cousins around my age are engaged/planning so I am learning as I go and totally getting the winds knocked out of my sails every time I think I have something under control. Whew. had to get that out lol. You asked for it.

Granted, I am in the beginning planning stages (have only set date, venue, and gone dress shopping)…
…BUT I underestimated how FUN dress shopping would be! Everyone I know that has been dress shopping says it is so stressful and not fun at all. I had a blast at my first wedding dress appointment and can’t wait for my next one in 2 weeks!

I definitely underestimated how easy choosing a dress would be. It was hard!

– Dress shopping: i had to go to 7 bridal stores, 12 appointments over 50 dresses to buy the one.
– Cost of veil: i always thought for a piece of tulle, it shouldn’t be more than $30.. oh boy, am i wrongggg..
– Wedding band: that stupid gap between ering and wedding band are driving me crazyy..,i gave up and just got a band i really really like eventhough i do not love them as much when together.

underestimated the cost of an officant! All my quotes were $450-$500, and I’m thinking really, I need to become an officiant, the ceremony itself is 20minutes!
I finally found an officiant for $200 bucks, met with him to make sure we were comfortable and booked him!

I underestimated EVERYTHING!
I thought I could have a great wedding for $5k, but now we are looking at $15k and having to make cuts. Everything adds up so FAST!
Biggest thing would definitely be food/alcohol for the reception. When we got the quote I literally thought I was going to throw up. I had no clue it would be so expensive!
