I’ll second underestimating how fast the last few months would go. I’m mentally in October.

-Underestimated my love for fatty food when buying a dress design that probably should only be worn by smaller girls (rather than someone…thicker like me.) Had designs on dieting, but today I’ve eaten Pei Wei and ice cream. C’est la vie.

-Underestimated the amount of input people who are making zero financial contributions would try to have over the plans. So you don’t want to drive an extra hour. Well, my family doesn’t either, and my friends don’t want to drive two extra hours, so we compromised. And now no one is happy.

-Underestimated the amount of comparing I would do between myself and other brides. I keep having to read the APW article about it not being a contest (or was that Offbeat Bride?) It sucks, because in my heart I know that unique centerpieces are absolutely not the point, but it’s like I can’t help myself.

I underestimated how much DIY would take! Why on earth did I think DIY centerpieces were the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So time consuming. I should’ve just went with the 125.00 floral centerpieces I wanted instead of the 60.00 DIY ones that are taking days and days of my life..and I don’t even like them anymore!

I underestimated how much everything would add up in the end… $$$ .. Sigh!

@sheepandbear:  Now I can’t find it. Maybe I read it in a book or something? I will keep looking in the morning, for you, and also because I spent the day on Pinterest :-/

@EffieTrinket:  Hehe, thank you!! and you dont have to look too hard… but if you do find it, I would most definitely love to read it! I underestimated the jealousy I was capable of.  Just a few minutes ago I was thinking of upgrading my F/VVS/.46 center stone to 1ct moissy because I was jealous, not because that’s what FH and I wanted. Unbelievable lol.

I underestimated… the total cost for everything!  Although I’ve been diligent with budgeting, all the little expenses do add up!

The amount of time and energy it takes to plan a wedding. SO many details. I’m up to my head with all the details!

The influence other people have on me!  I’m too much of a people pleaser :/

All the tasks I thought would be easy (dress shopping for me, for my bridesmaids, making simple decisions like cake, colors, flowers, etc) weren’t so quick and easy in reality!

money and timing.

oh i have a 16 month engagement – i have plenty of time – yeaaa right

and oh that’ll only be like 500 – nope 1000. I should just double every category and that might give me a realistic figure.

Number of cupcakes. I planned for 200 people, and we had counted about 170 guests. We figured there would be a little more becuase of people that didn’t RSVP, but we had exactly 200 people that had a cupcake. Luckily Maid/Matron of Honor made a birthday cake for her mom and my uncle, who shared their birthday on our wedding day, because we ended up cutting into that Pink Panther cake and serving it to guests who wanted something later!

I underestimated…

  • how expensive alterations would be, and I had very, very few alterations made to my dress.
  • how many people would be on summer/family vacations over our wedding weekend.
  • how annoying it would be to try to print onto our envelopes from our home printer (though so worth it in the end).
  • how long it would take me to pack for our honeymoon.

I underestimated how much gifting make-up for the bridesmaids would be! The saving grace with this one was I researched early and was able to save with plenty of time.

I also shamefully underestimated how easy going my bridesmaids would be…the dresses have all been ordered and they have all been supportive and cooperative with any decisions-granted we still have about 4 months to go so this could all change! 🙂

I also underestimated how much fun the planning process would be! Again-I still have 4 months to go and could be ripping my hair our in a few months, but so far I have had a lot of fun and it was a lot less stressful than I thought! Crossing my fingers it stays this way all the way through!
