Yeah you should look at this as a blessing in disguise. I’d much rather deal with my period for my vacation, wedding and honeymoon than the aftermath of the IUD installation. It’s not the worst pain I’ve ever had, but it did keep me on the sofa for a day and a half, and I didn’t feel back to normal for another 2 days or so, and I got occasional (intense but tolerable) cramping for weeks after.

@Valerita:  can you do something like nuvaring to keep it away on the HM? Any maybe get control over it? At least your flow is short. Mines HEAVY for 3 days. then another 3 – 4 days after that.

I was not aware they put in IUDs during your period. Good to know. But I’m sorry for your situation OP!

Are you against the Pill? You could use it for the next month (to cover you through your wedding), then get the IUD?

@Valerita:  You can try to see the day you come back, if you’re still soft enough. It might hurt a bit more. BUT you could get it in.

@Valerita:  Don’t like meaning bad side effects? If not, I would totally go on it for like 2 months straight through, skip your period so you don’t have to worry about it (just take two packs back to back) then get the IUD after all the wedding stress has died down, but you know what’s best for your body, I realize the pill does not treat us all equally!

@Valerita:  Sending good vibes. I got mine on one of the heavy days. And they didn’t like it at all. They couldn’t see anything. They wanted me on the tail end of my period. So I’m hoping with AF being 4 days, and your trip being 4 days!
