Are you having the ring custom made?

Did your Fiance already pay the guy? Because it sounds like he may have taken the money and run.

I agree that it sucks waiting for the ring!  We had to get it resized and it was gone for a week!  Luckily I had my promise ring to take it’s place.

You don’t need a ring to tell people you are engaged though!

*hugs*  I’m sorry for how that’s going.  The jeweler who helped my bf was a complete ditz.  5 times she said she’d call him back (for 5 different reasons), and she never did, he had to call almost every day to get the price quote.  Then he was supposed to go meet her to get the ring approved and he went to the jeweler shop 6 times!  Which btw, is 2 hours away from us, so its not an easy ‘stop by the shop on my way home’ deal.  Twice she wasn’t there, and all the other times were ‘I’m sorry, I’ll get right on that, I forgot!’  It finally worked out, and now he has the ring, and I’m waiting for him to propose.  It’s driving me nuts too, lol.  I hope your jeweler gets back from asia soon!

if he hasn’t even started the ring yet, you should be aware that a custom ring can take about 3 months to make…

it’s only been 10 days so just wanted to let you know you’ll be in for the long haul.

Valentines? Then thats just 10 days. Relax girl! lol

But I kind of know how you feel, my Fiance proposed to me with a wedding band,  not the one he had hoped to give me, he knows how I picky I am and said he’d like me to help him pick out the Engagement ring.

I didnt anounce our engagement till I got the “offical” ring he wanted to get me.

So it was like 2 months of being quiet!

Im using the first ring he gave me as my wedding ring when we get married.

Oh I understand – I was proposed to in October and do not have my ring but am pretty sure it will be mine within the month.  I sometimes get very jealous of the girls with the amazing proposals and the surprise rings, but I understand why we did things the way we did and my fiance (the stinker lol) showed my daughter which ring he was proposing with and it is my favorite so I am glad I am being patient and waiting.

I keep telling myself I will have the rest of my life to show it off and agreeing to marry the guy without the ring inducement has to say something lol

So it is ok to be frustrated and vent because you want it – we understand

I am going to post pictures of my soon to come sparkler -do you have pictures of yours?

@girlnyc: I might choose another jewelry designer if you can’t get in touch with him. Maybe go into a local jewelry shop and actually talk to them.

Are you in NYC, there’s a great little jewelry shop in the East Village that does custom jewelry.

I still have my stunt double and I’m married. It’s a little hard sometimes, but I love my $30 ring and am glad we used the money for the wedding. Plus, it makes a good story. Maybe try looking at it from another angle.

Dude, chill out! It’s been 10 days! I know how excited you are for the ring, but try to be a little patient. There’s a good reason that you don’t have the ring yet, and that is that it is being custom made. Because your fiance wanted to give you exactly what you want. Because he loves you. Just try to focus on the positives~ you’re engaged, and have a great guy that cares about you!

I am being stuped? selfish? childish?

Not stupid, but a little bit selfish – you seem more obsessed with the ring than your wonderful man, and a little bit childish to think that a custom made ring could be made in 10 days, even without the jeweler traveling to Asia.
