If you want a tattoo get it. But only get it for yourself. a tattoo should not have to “fit” into a theme of a wedding. You should get it because it has meaning to you. Thats my 2cents haha πŸ™‚

@MissOtter31: I just wanted to pop in and say a few things.

1) I live in MD too!
2) If you love squints, does that make YOU Wendy Peffercorn?!

My advice is when you think you know what you want, print out the design and hang it up on your bathroom mirror for at least 3 months. Several tattoo ideas I had didn’t make the cut. I don’t regret getting a tattoo, but I might have regreted some of the designed that didn’t pass my “test”. Don’t rush into it.

I had a visible tattoo for my wedding, I don’t think it was negative or distracting, it’s just part of me. No, it wasn’t my “wedding theme”, but a wedding is 1 day, a tattoo is there forever.

I have been torn about the tattoo on my shoulder showing during my wedding, and finally decided not to worry about covering it.  It is part of me, and has been there for 15 years.  I might even get it touched up prior so that it is in ‘top shape’…not sure on that yet either.

Bottom line, sounds like you have had this idea for quite a while, the design specified in your mind for quite a while, so it is not a whim.  If you want it, get it, and don’t think about your wedding day; think about how you will feel about it everyday.

I don’t have any tattoos, but Darling Husband has them all up both arms. We had an outdoor wedding in June, so Darling Husband and our groomsmen wore their jacket sleeves rolled up. He told me he would cover them up if I wanted him to, but tattoos are such a huge part of who an individual is, so it seemed silly to me to pretend that they weren’t there! I think you should get your HP tattoo and flaunt it on your wedding day. It represents who you are, just like your ceremony should. πŸ™‚
