Im the same as you! Weddings are ridiculously over priced.

My fiance and I dont make a lot of money and our families dont have a lot either. We are solely paying for our wedding.

Since I’ve gotten engaged I’ve been constantly going back and forth on even having a wedding or just eloping/having a courthouse wedding. We cant spend more than 5 K for everything (wedding venue/reception/dress/suit/hair/makeup/flower bouquet/rings)…and honestly I dont really care to spend more and have a big wedding as we are both introverts and easy going and dont want to be the centre of attention. We also dont care for dancing. We just want to get married outside in a park with the people we love watching, and then go for dinner. I would much rather spend the money that I saved from our non-wedding on a honeymoon or down payment for a house!

Welcome to the club. I also can afford a big wedding but feel exactly like you. We went for two small weddings with a very modest budget. I don’t want to spend a lot of money for a party.

In your case, I think you need to discuss with your fiance and decide on a budget that you are willing to spend. Then, decide on the venue and other things. Ask yourself, “Will I regret not doing this?”

For example, I realized that I would regret not wearing a wedding gown. It doesn’t have to be an expensive one but I would like to wear a nice wedding dress. My fiance also brought up to my attention about some things that he would regret if he skipped on the wedding. So, we are going ahead with a modest wedding party than eloping.
