I think you should drop it – when your SO doesn’t want something (or someone) living with you, more arguments happen lol.

I bought a little kitten back in December but I had to give him away because he might have hopped into DH’s dresser drawer…and he might have peed. But he was only 6 weeks old! Dh was convinced this cat had mommy issues and he was taken away too early.

Anyway, your two cats will get older and they will become more sleepy and cuddly and less playful – at a year old, they still act like kittens at times

You should drop it. He’ll get super annoyed if you continue to bring it up.

I’m in the same situation. We have a dog and a cat and I want another cat. We were at PetSmart the other day and I always have to check out the cats for adoption. They had the cutest kitten I’ve ever seen there. If I got the OK we would have walked out with her. But Darling Husband says we have enough pets at the moment. He’s told me we can get another whenever we get a house. I know he’s right, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting one!

I’d probably just give up the idea.  I understand why you’d like to have another kitty but I also understand why he doesn’t.  I am a cat lover too but I couldn’t do 3 of them.  I had this convo kinda with my husband.  We have a cat and I wanted a puppy but he wants to wait.  I decided to just choose my battles and wait.

Maybe in another year try, but for now I agree. Drop it.

If you DID get another cat and it wasnt snuggly what would happen? Would you want a 4th?

We have 2 cats and 1 dog we got in succession and with each new animal the personality changed on the animal(s) we already have. Not always for the best.

He is coming up with excuses because he simply doesnt want one now. Maybe after some time passes you can together visit he adoption centers and find one that will meet your needs.

I totally understand what you’re going through! I felt like something was missing, although I really wanted a dog but my apartments do not allow them. I volunteer at a no kill animal shelter and saw so many cats that have been abused and are just scared. My Fiance said NO to a third cat. I won’t get into detail but we made a compromise and now I got a third one. This was back in November and he has totally fallen for this cat! She is a cuddler and is so playful.

Like PP said maybe they will become more lovey dovey when they get older but honestly there’s some lifers where I volunteer that I know for a fact will never be the cuddling type. I hope you find a solution soon!

The biggest problem I see is that most places that take pets usually limit it to 1 or 2. I would love to get a 3rd, but until we buy a home, it’s not going to happen

I have three cats.  I love them dearly and would love to have another BUT most rentals now have a two pet maximum.  If you ever want to move somewhere other than where you currently live, you’ll have a lot of trouble finding an apartment that will allow more than two pets.  It’s quite sad, I’m not sure what we’re going to do when we move, I’m hoping we’ll pay a larger pet deposit and monthly fee and that’ll be okay.
