LOL! I feel like Verucca Salt from Willy Wonka when it comes to wedding stuff now. I want to start planning and booking everything now but I can’t yet. I am SO impatient at times its ridiculous. I am in nursing school and graduate in December, and I am paying for the wedding. My fiance has paid the mortgage and all the bills since I have been in school so that is the trade off. I know I don’t want to spend a ton of money, but I have thought about even selling my beloved Jeep just to have a wedding. Anyone else have to wait 1-2 more years and getting anxious? By The Way, we have been engaged already for almost 3 years.

We were engaged for two years and four months total, so nowhere near as long as your total. But I will say that the wait is totally worth the joy of your wedding day. 🙂
If you’re really concerned, you may want to decide whether it’s more important to you to have a more elaborate (read: more expensive) wedding, or get married sooner and have it be more intimate and/or more simple.

Start buying stuff now. Save money, make a budget and buy one wedding related item a month. See what do it yourself projects you can do. Research and price compare. You will be grateful for all the time you have if you use it wisely.

I can’t imagine a 5 year engagement. As a previous poster said, really think hard about whether the wait is worth the large wedding to you. If it is, shop sales, research, coupon, negotiate, etc. to save money while you have the time.
