I want to start this post by saying that we have a fantastic photographer. She is a close friend who is also a professional photographer, and she did a wonderful job on our e-pics from what I have seen so far (we did get a very brief preview b/c she offered to rush edit 3 pictures for us so we could use them for save-the-dates)
So, I have had a taste of our pictures. I know that I love them already.
However, we found out something SUPER frustrating this weekend- Our pictures are done. The blog post about our session is written. Everything is ready to go….
BUT she can’t let us see them until she gets the pictures back from a second shooter for the wedding she shot the weekend before.
She has the pictures she shot done from the wedding, but because she hasn’t gotten the extra pictures, she cannot release the wedding pictures, which means she can’t release our pictures because they came after. (She also has to wait to release some senior photos that she shot after our photos, which are ALSO done)
You have no idea how much this is killing me! Knowing they’re finished, knowing that they’re ready to go, and being told that I can’t see them yet… UGH!
I was told it should be within the next week, but still. I’m going crazy.
Oh, and to satisfy my craving, I’ll give you a little preview of one of the pictures that I do have:

I want ours back too!! It’s only been a week since we had ours done, but I’m getting really impatient. Our photographer said it could take up to 3 weeks to get them — I was hoping she would post a sneak peek, but she hasn’t. =( So, I know how you feel. I can’t imagine having to wait for her to post someone elses pictures. If she has yours done, why can’t she just post them? She could at least just send u a link to see them privately.

@ilovegaleharold: We got our pictures taken on October 22nd, so it’s been about 3 weeks. That really is normal, don’t worry!
Also, I understand why she can’t release them- If I were the bride of the wedding shot before us, I would be cranky if my pictures didn’t get released first.
Also, I know she releases them first in a blog post, but I haven’t seen the website she uses to order prints- I’m not entirely sure how private you can make it. If it’s like what I’ve seen for other photographers, you usually have to go through and select the set of pictures you’re purchasing from, so she would be able to tell.
I actually know both the photographer and the bride pretty well, and they’re both super sweet, so I’m trying to be patient. It’s just so hard!

Well hopefully you get them this week! I was just wondering about seeing them privately, because my sister just had her maternity and newborn pics done and she was able to go to the photographers website and put in a password to see her pics. On the site there is a heading titled – Clients, then when you click on it it asks you to enter your password. So no one would know who’s pics were released and who’s weren’t.

Yeah, I’m really not sure how she puts them up for ordering…. I’m not TOO worried about it, as I’ve been told it will be soon, but obviously I’m antsy!
Since she’s a friend, I know I could say something to her about it, but I don’t want to because she is ALSO a professional and I don’t like taking advantage of our friendship (we already got a HUGE discount, so that’s enough for me!)

Ummm why is her second shooter being a jerk?! Isn’t it that person’s job to hand over the photos straight away so she can get to editting and make sure the photos from the both of them are seamless?! If you were three weeks late on a deadline at work I’m pretty sure your boss would can you no? That’s totally not her fault, but I’m also wondering just why she hasn’t gotten those photos yet.
Hopefully you’ll get them ASAP! I know the wait is just killer.

Haha, yes, the wait is killing me!
Also, her studio is VERY new… basically, she finished up school in Boston, moved back home, and she is trying to build up her business.
Which means that she has an employee base of one (herself). When she needs a second shooter, she has to hire someone on a per-job basis. In this case, it’s a girl she went to school with in Boston whose husband happened to get transferred to Indiana too, so she trusts her work very much. Problem is, this woman also has an actual job working for another photographer. Because she has an actual job that pays her bills, she has to focus on that first, so she won’t get fired. The work she does as a freelance second shooter has to come after, unfortunately.
It will work out in the end… but patience is NOT a quality that I have much of….
