I got married July 28 and I’m still waiting on photos…. *tears*…
My sweet husband is scared that if we pester them that they’ll rush and won’t do such a good job… so out of respect for him, I’ve been biting my tongue.
We did get a generic email a few weeks ago that says “normally our turn around time is 12 weeks.. but we’re really busy and want your photos to be perfect.”

Yep totally normal. They might book weddings and meetings for weddings every week and weekend, take 1000s of photos and then edit them. It’s hard to wait but the proper edits are totally worth it. Post here when you get them if you’re comfortable!

Photographers do them in a few days. What’s taking them so long is because there are other weddings before yours, and then they also have to shoot more weddings on most weekends and some weekdays…so that translates to a couple months wait.

We got married 1st September (Saturday) and had out sneak peek back by the time we landed for our honeymoon on the Tuesday. We got our full photos back on 26th September, but we haven’t shared them as we’re doing wedding albums for Christmas presents!
However, our photographer only does half a dozen weddings a year (he mostly does headshots and portraits) so he didn’t have 1000s of photos to edit for other clients first, and our contract said 12 weeks standard with up to 16 weeks for wedding season. What does your contract say?

I’m a wedding photographer, my contract time is 8-12 weeks. I usually try to deliver in 8 but ALWAYS have that buffer because you just can’t plan ahead for things like the flu, hurricanes (I live in a hurricane area, so evacuations and power outages are the norm), etc. I try to get a preview up within a couple of days, and every so often if it’s close to the holidays someone will ask if I can get them a few couples portraits for holiday cards and I try my best to do that too!

Depends on type of photographer. I chose one who goes for photo-realism/ no real retouching etc. Hes incredibly fast (is worked woth him before.) E had our engagement photos next day and our wedding photos about a week and a half later (even though he flew internationally in between).
But that’s way outside the norm!

We got our first round of drafts in 3 months… we’re now 5 months in and still working on finalizing our photo albums.
