I still eat sushi, I just choose the cooked roles. (California roll, Philadelphia roll shrimp rolls, crab rolls, etc.) There’s still a good assortment to choose from that aren’t raw.

You can eat pretty much the same stuff as before, there’s only really a few minor changes to make. (No raw meat/fish, heat deli meat before eating, choose low-mercury fish, no alcohol, no sprouts, minimal caffeine, no soft-serve ice cream, etc.)

Just eat healthy food (and plenty of protein and fat!) and drink plenty of water.

I still get my sushi fix but it has to be cooked. They much a lot of types of crunch maki’s and if you like spicy food then see if any local places have some spicy scallop rolls.

Once you get a hang of it most stuff is fine to eat.

No cold cuts, tuna steaks, swordfish, unpasturized soft cheese, alcohol, and starbucks coffee(the caffeine in those drinks are so much higher).

my doctor cracked me up when i told him i was concerned that i had sushi twice while pregnant before i knew i was pregnant. he said “so, the Japanese have been doing it for years”! LOL.   Then he retracted and said i really just need to stay away from raw tuna.  I still won’t eat any raw fish though despite what he said. i would feel weird doing. And sushi was not a regular thing for me to eat, so i am fine without it.  If i do go for sushi, i would stick to the veggie ones.

@abbyful:  although i didn’t know California rolls were one the cooked ones? that’s awesome since it is one of my favorite types!

i haven’t really felt like i have had to give up much else. i did read that raw eggs are no good and then realized that includes fried eggs with runny yolk are considered raw – so i do miss those!  And i think most Caesar dressings have raw eggs in them, so i have been avoiding it and it is my favorite kind of salad dressing….although as a result i have opened my tastes to plenty of other awesome dressings.

As for good things, i read avocados and almonds are good. so now  i add almonds to mu yogurt everyday. in general, all fruits and veggies are good.  breads made with whole grains are good too.   these are all things i ate before, so i guess that’s why i don’t feel like i had to make many changes.

I eat veggie sushi all the time! They have a great variety at one of the sushi places in my area. About half of the menu is veggie sushis! They have over 150 different kinds!

Can you tell I love sushi?Embarassed
