I REALLY want a pair of tall boots this fall – actually, i’ve ALWAYS wanted a pair of tall boots. I’ve never had any, because I have extremely skinny calves and they look seriously ridick on me. I look like a swashbuckler – not kidding.
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you found tall boots that fit your calves better? Or has anyone ever had their boots altered?

I’ve got that problem, too. I got a pair of the Steve Madden flat suede slouch boots and I don’t have this problem in them. But if you’re looking for straight boots or anything with a heel, I haven’t found a solution yet. 🙁

I want slouch boots too! I’ll have to try those out. There’s a Steve Madden store around here somewhere. I seriously tried on boots all day long – no bueno.

I definitly have that problem! I actually get mine taken in. Discovering that you could do that was my savior. Ya it sucks you have to spend extra money to have boots fitted, but I cant help it im obsessed with boots. They only way I dont have to have them altered is if i wear them with pants tucked in. I feel your pain! Its not fun looking like a pirate it boots that are way too big.

Ugh I have the opposite problem! Even when I was a size 4, I still could not find a pair of boots that would zip past the lower calf.
Thank God for long wedding dresses.

@july – I just found out today that you can have boots altered! Where do you go to do it, and how much does it usually cost?

I just bought a pair of christian louboutin suede boots last year and went to a shoe repair that was recommended. Ok prepare yourself…..It was 200! I know thats really expensive but they were black boots that ill wear alot. You can understand I have been dying for a pair of fitted boots. Im sure it depends on the place and type of boot. I would only recommend doing it to a pair you plan to wear alot.

Oh, I am exactly the same! I’m so desperate for them, I don’t even have a price limit at this point. Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into this!!!

There’s a company here in the UK that sells narrow and wide calf boots: http://www.duoboots.com/ I think they ship to the US, but perhaps there’s a US version of this same thing?

Thanks jhphi – I’ve never heard of that! I’ve always wondered why they don’t make boots in different calve sizes… my sister has the opposite problem I have, her calves are so muscular, most of them are too tight on her. Thanks for sharing that!

I have the same problem. I just bought a pair from Victoria’s Secret … they are still a little big but i just decided to rock them anyway… really they only look silly if you let them!

I know that on zappos.com there is a search function that allows you to pick “narrow calf”- I can’t remember where it is, you kinda have to dig around the site for it, but it will narrow the boots down to ones for really skinny calves!

I got franco sarto stretch leather tall boots. They fit like a glove, and look great. It’s like a custom fit. I wore them all week last week.
They look freakishly shiny in this picture, but mine are not:

Of course I also have my corset lace Fluevog Sugars. The corset lace makes it amenable to any calf size.
