Why can’t I find something that fits us?! My little outburst was met with a look that said ‘she’s asking one of those trick question’s again and I’m trapped at the table!’. Poor man, he’s holding up well though.
I have spent a significant amount of time searching for a cake topper. Don’t ask why this one detail is so important to me because even I don’t know lol. After disappointment and near blindness from looking at the computer screen I have decided to design my own!I know what I want. We are having an “At The Fair” theme. When we first started going together I asked him what his ideal date was. When he answered I was shocked to find that it mirrored my own! We both thought that a day at a fair or carnival was perfect:) We wanted something a little off beat and fun. Just like us. The idea was perfect!
My idea is a couple on a carousel horse kissing. I’m not really sure what medium to use so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject!
Here is a pic of something similar to what I have in mind.

My mom’s goddaughter is really crafty and she is making our cake topper. She’s using clay, which I think is pretty common in cake toppers?

I recommend Etsy Alchemy. I’m sure you could find someone to make you a custom one there.

you should check out Miss. Elephants post, she found a great cake topper maker on etsy. If nothing else you could use the same material(I think its polymer clay?)

We made ours out of clay since we couldnt find an interracial one. it turned out great!

I actually work a lot with clay, including cake toppers. I would suggest Polymer clay, it works great for small details that you will need, for what you are looking for. And it is very easy to work with. be careful when you choose the brand of clay because some are very crumbly and others tend to be too soft. After you cook your piece they can tend to be very delicate as well.
Here’s a picture of an ornament I made last Christmas. Just to give you an idea of what a carousel horse may look like in clay…
